Patrick, yes they take the dogs to the beach, and there were several boats with dogs.  As far as generators, there were only a couple that didn't have one.  If you don't have one, a portable one may be all you'd need to keep the fridges cool and the batteries charged.  I'll have to work on more pictures.  A few really good ones are still missing from here.

Boats without generators have been known to make arrangements (usually via frosty cold beverages) to plug a 15A adapter into a neighbor's boat for the occasional battery charge.

I didn't want to say it on here LaRea, but yes, there are two of us that carry the correct connections and cables for such a thing.  I had to use them a few weeks ago when I had my genny issues.  Sure was nice.  Had everything except air conditioner.

Worried you will get some gennie moochers Dream?  I would think one couldnt do with out the air conditioner this time of year.  Although think the heat held off for this outing.  I know we couldnt with our older dog.  Do the portable generators annoy those around them?

Portable generators are fine if used correctly.  I wasn't worried about moocher, was concerned with those saying it is not safe.  Patrick, we never run our air overnight.  Rinkervous is the only place we end up running our genny thru most of the daylight hours on Saturday.  We do that because we keep 2 ice makers going (one a portable that makes a ton of ice), and we run music all day, and blenders for kids drinks (sometimes adults).  But, I understand with an older dog you may need to run it at night.  We had perfect temperatures though and no need to run air at night.  Actually, I saw a couple light jackets come out in the evening!

First, I want to shout out a big thank you to Dream Inn.  It's one thing to go to the effort of organizing an event and it's another thing to be a great host who makes newcomers feel welcome.  Dream Inn did them both and did them well!

Our time at the Rinkervous this year was short and somewhat interrupted by the weather but it was fun all the same.  The admiral had a work commitment that resulted in us leaving the marina later than expected.  After fueling up and 45 minutes in transit we arrived mid afternoon.  As we approached the chain of Rinkers (mostly) we were welcomed to tie up to the end boat and greeted by Dream Inn and Tom who helped us get tied up.

The kids immediately went out to play with the other kids and we chatted with a few people. Everyone was really nice.  A little after 4 some dark clouds moved in and we heard some thunder.  We put up the side curtains in preparation for a likely storm and got the kids aboard.  The storm came....eventually.  It was a really slow moving storm that took several hours to pass.  Unfortunately, we were not prepared to spend the night (rookie mistake).  We were looking for a break in the weather to head for home and shortly after 8 we found one.  As the rain tapered off with made a break for it.  Sorry that I didn't get to say goodbye but darkness was approaching fast and we needed to leave else risk an unfavorable encounter with a crab pot.

As we pulled out of the cove the rain stopped.  We had received some texts from the mother of one of the kids we had with us.  She was on the Bohemia and sounded pretty concerned.  Apparently the storm hit worst up there and made white caps on the Bohemia from the high wind.  Thankfully the wind was light and the bay wasn't rough for us.  The gps made it easy to stay in the middle of the channel and away from the crab pots.  The trip home was uneventful.  I'm already looking forward to the next Rinkervous and meeting more fellow Rinker owners.  Until then I hope that everyone enjoys all of the boating that the remaining summer has to offer.

    Regards,

    MD,

Thank you for the wonderful remarks.  After you had left, I had felt bad not saying goodbye and helping you out.  The late evening rain was sure a welcome as it definitely cooled the evening for a lot more fun.  I'm glad the ride back was ok.

I am also glad you enjoyed yourself and it looked like all the girls you brought had fun with the other kids.  I wish I had gotten over to invite the kids to our boat during the rain, as a few relaxed below and watched a movie and did some craft stuff.  Definitely make sure the admiral has the time off next year and certainly bring the kids back!  Oh, and make sure to stay the night (or two).

One thing for sure, we are certainly blessed to know and be able to boat with such wonderful people!  For that we are extremely grateful!  Enjoy the rest of your summer as well!
