Kidde fire extinguisher recall

I received one, then three more a few days later.  They come with a return shipping label so you can send the bad ones back to them.

Don't throw away the inner cardboard box the new unit comes in. For safe shipping an inner box surrounded by styrofoam peanuts goes in the outer thicker shipping box.

The 2 red house units came this morning, replaced, re-boxed and ready for pickup. These are nice, heavier duty handle/actuator. 2 whites to come.

So one more came today, odd seeing as there were 2 reds and 2 whites processed. 2 reds came last week as I mentioned, assuming replacing the red but this one today is a red also. So I am not sure if I got an extra red or this is one of 2 to replace the whites, they are all USCG approved and type ABC. We'll see what comes. 

@LaRea - what color were yours? Did you get color for color?

My old ones were 4 red and 1 white.  So far, I got 4 red replacements. 

I think they are all rated 1-A/10-BC, right?  What does the color signify?

I called in on November 13th and haven't received any replacements yet. How long did it take for you guys to receive yours?

Yes, I compared the old whites I still have and new reds and they have the same type and USCG approvals.

So 2 more arrived today - white. So I've been sent the replacements requested plus 1 red for some reason.

I had 4 total recalls  and just got one of them replaced.

Just got the two that I have on my boat and called. They said 15-20 business days to receive the new ones. They asked if they were white or red.

Must be over the backlog and rush, mine took longer but I have all 4 plus an extra

I just received 3 new replacements for my home today, 1/26/18.  I applied for them on their website when the recall was announced in early November.  My boat is in storage where I can't access the fire extinguisher so I have to wait till spring to apply for that one.

I pulled mine this past weekend...but they are the horizontal pin plastic handle and Kidde website says they are not involved???  I'm going to call today and make sure.

I would, the web site said mine were not and a call resulted in all being part of the recall. In general plastic handled units are affected.

I posted it on our boat club web site. It’s all gone quiet since the initial announcements.

Finally called and have 2 new units on the way.  These were extinguishers I had retired from the boat last season.  I imagine the extinguishers on the boat are part of the recall too.  Find out next month when I cut the shrink.

Something worth pointing out...is that they don't ship them together.  I received my 2 in separate shipments 2 weeks apart.

They walked me through the process, to including getting my address, once per extinguisher so I would not be surprised.

I got the 2 red replacements in 2 boxes the same day and then another red a little later. Then i got the 2 whites, again as 2 separate items but the same day. I guess they process each one and based upon stock etc they send them out.
