Lots of great playlists and songs for sure! I'm a bit surprised that no one has mentioned The Vulgar Boatmen. Interesting story behind this band - in the early 1980's, two guys started corroborating music / lyrics via snail mail and eventually formed 2 bands with the same name - one based out of Indiana and the other based out of Gainesville, FL. I saw the northern version of the band many times in Chicago back in the early 90's.

Hah - same here.  We saw it in one of the new-style theaters with leather recliners.  It was almost as comfortable as my living room, and the sound system was even better than mine.

Man, I need to get on your schedule!  Let's see, I had a 3 day weekend.  Friday I took care of the leaves in the yard, then went to the boat and changed out the 4 duck bills in the vacuflush, then all the toilet seals (yeah, fun job, but this is the time to do it).  Saturday, I baked over 700 dozen (yes, 700 dozen, half of what we'll bake in February) at our church for the naval academy (we do it monthly).  Watched college football after that.  Sunday I split a couple cords of wood all day.  It's time to take it easy and go to a movie this weekend!!

My yacht club had its black-tie Commodore's Ball Saturday.  And -- since this thread is about music -- the DJ was horrible.  Bad music played on bad equipment by a guy with zero interest in his job.   

Next year, I'm doing it myself.  My music is better, my gear is MUCH better, and the club can spend the $500 on extra table wine.

I hired a band for Halloween dock crawl we did a couple weeks ago.  It was just a two piece band that was amazing.  Her voice was just crazy good and the range of songs they did was unbelievable.  It's going to become an annual thing and will definitely bring back the band.  I've never been much into DJs, but that's just my choice.  If I want a DJ, then, like you said, just do it yourself.
