When the electrical is disconnected from the motor will the hatch still work or is everything grounded through the motor?

Yes, it should work. It's grounded to the battery.

It do not work. The switch for the hatch is powered thru the multipowercord from the engine.

I think you are going to have to test it yourself.  When they pulled out my engines they disconnected the hatch and flipped it all the way back.  I redid a lot of the wiring while i had the engines out and replaced all the wire looms, painted etc... So i was raising and lowering my engine hatch all the time.  In order to get mine to work i actually had to connect both engine grounds together.  I just temporarily bolted them together.  Taped up the red wires first.  So while it may or may not work, it is easy to remedy.  Worst case scenario is that you may have to temporarily run a ground back to the battery.

I don’t disconnect but turn the selector switches to off. When off, no hatch drive.

I vote yes it will work with shore power plugged in and battery charger switch on. Time will tell....

Can't remember if the hatch is on the house circuit or crank battery. I think house. I know there was a ground block right beside the battery, tied to the negative terminal on my boat. So I'd think it should work.

In case it doesn't do you have the by-pass terminals (poles) on your 12V panel where your battery switch is?

No it will go both ways. Just reverse polarity with the jump pack and bingo.....

... on most boats.  Not all.  Mine is up-only.  But it will go up/down from the battery charger when connected to shore power, even if all batteries are disconnected.

Wow, in my feeble mind that makes no sense...the battery charger can run the whole boat via shore power?

Ras you will have to disconnect the deck mount from the ram to tilt it all the way back.
so why not raise/ lower it  manually?

That thing is pretty awkward to handle- I want to close it all the way so my cover snaps . We will see! May have to.

You can use the cherry picker to support during lifting and lowering

I'm going to a marina with an overhead lift to yank it out....at least if they drop it, it's on them and probably will charge me a hundred bucks so worth it.

With all battery positive leads disconnected, both battery switches on, and battery charger on - all systems work including hatch lift.  (On my boat.  Your mileage may vary.)

When I connect a jump box to the hatch terminals, it will raise the hatch.  If I reverse the leads, it does nothing.

With shore power on, all the batteries disconnected and all the engine wiring disconnected, the hatch works. Motor is ready to come out!

Just tested on our 2003 3210: With all off, no hatch. House on, no hatch, starboard on, hatch works up and down.

It looked like with shore power everything on the helm would work...lights in the cabin and I heard the fridge on as well. No batteries connected at this point. Guess it would not have been a big deal but I did not want to wrestle the hatch with man power!

Oh you still need to wrestle it

you will
probably have to tilt the hatch near 90 to lift the engine out. 
Remember it will have to go forward then up
and out
