Ceramic Coating

I was watching a video on ceramic coating a car and wondering what everyone's opinions were.  The process is pretty laborious and the materials themself are not cheap.  For those that have done it to their cars or boats what is your opinion?  Is it worth it?  Does it last as long as advertised?  Most car detailers are no longer recommending anything other than spray on wax (which is fine by me).  So this is really the next level.  You just have to get the surface as close to perfect as possible and that means a lot of work for a boat.

    I have a ceramic coating spray wax from turtle wax that seems to work really well on my car however I don't notice anything on the boat. On my car the water beads and falls off even after a few washes bit the boat made no difference on my opinion.

    I use the spray Meguiars ceramic detailer and it’s fine. Nowhere near the hydrophobic level of properly applied ceramic coating but good enough for my 15 year old boat.

    I use a product called Shock-It from Magestic Solutions out of North Carolina. Great product and great company to deal with.

    @LaRea i had seen the previous thread but thought it might of been specific to just one brand.  I was watching some videos by DIY Detail and then looked at the price of it... a healthy sense of cautious skepticism arose.

    Ceramic coatings in my opinion and I believe many others are a proven product. Colored hulls would have the most benefit since a ceramic coating is basically a top sealer and should prevent oxidation.

    I never formally used a ceramic coating. Reseached it closely tho.
    But I do use Meguiars Ceramic Detailer. Same a @ YYZRC
    More thsn happy with results 
    I got our gel coat to near perfect. Quite a science to it. Once it is under control from oxidizing. Maitnenance is pretty easy.
