We walked back to the boat after getting some lunch on Saturday and found this guy. First time I ever had this happen. The walkthrough vinyl was open and the rear but I guess he was too scared and was stuck under the window. Once I opened the walkthrough glass, he flew out.
Yep we were there early Thursday. We followed our friend who's boat is on our port side. Just got home Sunday afternoon now we leave tomorrow driving to Vancouver BC with that same friend to meet our other friends who have their boat in Canada so we will be there for 3 weeks on that. I'll have many great pictures as we are going to 8 different ports/anchorages.
@Aqua_Aura - Nordhavn, Marquis, Maritimo ... some nice boats in that lineup!
This was our "view" today as we crossed into Canada near the Niagra River on Lake Ontario. Smoke from forest fires, maybe combined with a little bit of fog. Visibility was down to 100 yards at times, with lots of Saturday fishing boats. I was glad to have good radar.
Another pic from yesterday. We're tied up on a busy walkway at Lakeside Park Marina. It has TONS of weekend foot traffic. Must have been at least 100 people that stopped to take pictures of each other with our boat, which is great and we hope they enjoy the memories!
But some of them just feel like they need to be physically touching the boat. Grab a rail, lean on the boat or whatever. Like this couple. She did various poses like this for several minutes. It's harmless (so far) but kinda creepy and unsettling.
When we lived in Scottsdale I saw some young kid lean on the hood of a Lamborghini and take some pictures. It was not his car 😳
We have friends with an 85' wooden boat and they took it to a jazz festival in Portland on the river and they had people boarding it thinking it was part of the music festival. They found them up on the sundeck just relaxing enjoying the music. 😂
I would throw up if you told me to park my 270 in there. I've seen the videos of the yachts at say Monaco (or where ever) and they have 50 people between you and your dock mates trying to squeeze in without scraping glass/metal...I'd need another 100 bumpers to bumper car my way in there!
@LaRea There seems to be many people who believe that the world and everything in it is there for their entertainment, with no mind of other people's property, or even inherent danger. I'm right there with you on the creepy and unsettling feeling. And welcome to Canada! Most of us won't touch your boat. Probably, maybe. lol.
While I'm here, this pic was from last Saturday evening. My wife and our two pups went for a late evening cruise, returning to our dock around 10:45pm having covered about 13 miles. There is a thin crescent moon lurking just above the trees to the left of center in pic.
@RiverRunnerNB -- thanks for the welcome! We love visiting Canada. This morning I had my first butter tart since last August!
Judging from appearances and accents, the rando touching is not Canadians. It's tourists, mostly from Southeast Asia, India, China, and the Caribbean. Different cultural norms. Here's a good shot of a woman pretending to step onto "her" yacht. They were having fun with it. How did humans survive before everybody had a camera all the time?
Needless to say, the feeds from our security cameras are very entertaining.
Last pic of the day. Yesterday, Rinker Forum Member and Gold Looper @Grahamu and his bride Sacha picked us up in Port Dalhousie and took us for an awesome tour of the Niagara region! Niagara Falls on the tour boat into Horseshoe Falls, down the parkway to the Whirlpool, then lunch at Niagara-on-the-Lake. Spectacular day with great friends!
Yet another example of people I knew online for years and met in-person while cruising.
Glad to see you were able to experience some of the wonderful sights the area has to offer. I was born and raised on the shores of Lake Ontario between Port Weller and Port Dalhousie which explains my obsession with boats and boating.

Great way to spend a summer vacation.

Non lethal protection, even against Somali pirates.
