@ian I should get a spray bottle of water like you use for training cats.
    :D

Another POTD.  This big freighter passed us in the Welland Canal.  The Welland requires a minimum of three people on pleasure crafts, so we hired a local guy called Roger.  He has worked the canal for 40 years and knows everything about it.  For example, this freighter was still in the lock when we got there.  Roger said to tie up at the wall because it would take about 30 minutes.  Sure enough, it was almost exactly 30 minutes.  He said the lock is 80 feet wide and the ship is 78 feet wide.

We did the entire canal in only 8 hours which is really good time.

@LaRea does age matter for the three passengers? Just curious.

@aero3113- The Welland requires one person at the helm and two line handlers on deck because the locks can have a lot of turbulence.  I don't recall seeing an age restriction, but the line handlers need good skills and physical ability.  It wouldn't be safe to use a small child.  Also it can be a very long day (12 hours or more depending on commercial traffic).

This is Locks 4-5-6 ... three connected locks that climb 120 feet up over the Niagara Escarpment (the same geological feature that forms Niagara Falls).

This is inside one of the locks.  Lock workers up at the top throw two lines down to the line handlers.  It takes 20-30 minutes to fill the lock.  Need to have good fenders!

@LaRea can you get from the Chesapeake area to the Great Lakes without going around and through the St Lawrence? Forgive my ignorance. I still dream about buying @Dream_Inn ‘s neighbours 390 and sailing it up.

@YYZRC - you could get from Annapolis to Lake Ontario in a week if you really wanted to make time.

You let me know and I can get you a private showing and great price!  I just went out to dinner with the owners last night.  They would love to sell it!  It is truly turn key!

    Stop 5 in Tenedos Bay.

Looks like we'll stay here for a few days longer since Roscoe Bay and everything else is getting really full from the Canada Long Weekend.

Quick dinghy/walk to the lake today as well.

    Daddy saved the day!
Everly, my 8 year old dropped her dolls pocketbook with all of its accessories off the swim platform. She didn’t tell us till a few minutes after it happened and she was very upset. Luckily it had a metal chain on it and I was able to use my magnet!

I hear @aero3113 is militant about doll screen time.

Also doll hydration and sun protection.  Dolls need to model good behavior.
