New dock with lift and cover

All, I will be documenting the construction with pictures as the work progresses. Stay tuned. This is a $30,000 project. I welcome all comments as the work progresses if anyone has any experience building one please chime in.

    This will be fun to watch! I am guessing that your build will be flexible to accommodate bigger boats than your 342 - either for your potential up-grade or with the future re-sale of your house in mind, to someone with a bigger boat?

    My father used to have to go under that bridge as well to get out.  What size lift are you putting in?  Is the dock already there, or are you putting in a wrap around one?  Make sure the lift can go up quite high cause my father has shown me pictures how high that water can get during a hurricane.  Of course a lot of people will tie their boat in the middle with long lines across the canal.

    DI, Its a 20,000 LB lift. Not sure how high it will take the boat above the water. I asked to have the pilings extended up 12 inches. 
    JC, the dock is 500 sq feet wrap around for 16000. Lift is about 7K and the cover is about 7K.

    Well its finally started. Should be done by Friday. They have made a lot of progress. Oh, the supervisor is Cuban and the workers are white boys from Florida. LOL

    Steve, that looks awesome. Can't wait to see the finished product! BTW great open area of the canal without a home real tight to your yard and speaking of homes there are some very nice looking homes in the background!

    Yeah they are ok. Right now, I am remodeling my laundry room and I have torn out the kitchen as the whole house is getting tiled with 20 by 20 inch tiles. Quite a disruption. Wish I had the Rinker at the dock so I could cook. LOL

    Looks like quite the float rig!  Definitely a nice spot on the water with the open canal.  Are you pretty close to that bridge you need to go under?

    Yes the one bridge is 11 foot 5 inches clearance at high tide but right now we are running 1 foot below normal tides so I will be good.

    I guess I should've said, is your house located pretty close to that bridge on the canal (not your boat)?

    It takes me 45 min to get down to the gulf from my house and that is just because of the slow zones. I am 10 min from the bridge DI and that is the bridge on Del Prado blvd if you remember street names.

    Here is todays progress. Notice the angle I will enter at. It is 15 feet between pilings. Cape coral only allows you to go out 30 feet from the seawall. The depth is 3 feet at low tide at the sea wall. 4 feet or so at the lift area.
