    Hi Diggin2Day1, great job on the projects.  I'm getting back into boating after 5 year off.  Had a Rinker 250, now just picked up a 2004 270 FV.  The gauge and switch panels on my 270 are bleached out and need replacing.  Would you be looking to sell your old panels and gauges?  I also live on Long Island so I could come pick them up. Would love to check out your updates also.

    @gack, welcome back to the family. Great Lakes Skipper has some stuff for the 270, if that helps at all.

    Thanks Greg, been looking there also.  My 270 is mechanically sound, but needs cosmetic work - new canvas, redo interior cushions, etc.  Can't wait to get back on the water!

    My 2003 270 is currently in the shop getting some minor repairs... bellows, new mercathode, etc.  I have a bunch of projects planned for once the weather gets a little better...  new LED stern light,  LED Bow/Nav lights. EVA Faux Teak on the swim platform, new stainless cup holders, raise the height of the captain's seat as others have done with aluminum square tube, new cabin flooring (allure), new wood cabin steps, new cockpit carpet (unless I can find a template for EVA foam), new Wetsounds speakers, removing and replacing the old hull striping.  Looks like I have a lot to do.  Now lets see what actually gets done.  I will attempt to get photos from all of the projects.

    Also they say the spray in stuff adds integrity to the structure.Are you putting some collar ties in the peek or ridge?

    Great job @Alswagg !!! We have the same codes for insulation in PA. Spray foam is the way to go. It fills in all of the gaps.

    I bought a new dash panel from Great Lakes Skipper in hopes of it possibly fitting a VV4 in the tach location. I was able to download a template to see if it would fit. It looks like it might with some tweaking.

    Cableguy Greg- Looks like it should work! The VV4 is not very thick. If I remember correctly, on my VV4 the data cable attached near the bottom of the unit and came off at a "quick 90 degreees"... created a little bit more clearance work for me.

    @diggin2day, I was thinking the same thing. I will still have to square up the tach hole. I might make a cardboard template of the dash before I make actual cuts on it.

    For what it's worth, The dash plate was made by Indiana Marine Products. I am not sure if they sell to the public or not, or if they would make a custom dash plate.

    I wanted some extra height out of my captains chair, and considered switching to a bolster seat, then decided to just switch pedestals. Here's the new one, I can now raise my seat 6", compared to fixed height.  B)

    Much cheaper than buying a bolster seat! I'm impressed with the quality, very sturdy. The casting was slightly thicker, so the plastic sleeve on the factory piece wouldn't work that fits over it. That piece basically snugs it tight so there's no slop while sliding seat forwards or backwards. I experimented with some weather stripping and it turned out great! $70 bucks on Amazon.
