Re: Fault alarm
Like @YYZRC said ... when you first turn the ignition key, do you hear a beep? If there's no beep, the alarm horn is not working. The horn is a plastic disk about 1" diameter and 1" thick. One for each engine, wired into that rat's nest of wires at the helm.
It's critical safety equipment.

Re: Fault alarm
Is the speaker disconnected? It’s part of the ignition circuit at the helm.

I use the GO12 with a NAC-2, Precision 9 compass and an Octopus Type R drive.
Don’t buy the Octopus rudder sensor, it is garbage. Get the Simrad.

I mounted the NAC-2 on the bulkhead and the Octopus between the stringers.

Re: Running new vhf wire
@rasbury - What's wrong with your old/existing VHF cable? Why can't you just reuse it to a new antenna? You can just install new PL259 connectors, etc.
Also, not familiar with a 270 arch, but does it not have an access cover plate near the base? When I've run wires on the 310, I go up the arch from the base plate cover, and then down through the hole at the base to behind the fridge and then to the helm area.

Re: What tool brand do you stand behind?
It's interesting to me that no one here has really mentioned the DeWalt or Husky brands for sale at the big box stores. I decided to purchase the Milwaukee sets as they seem to have one of the better warranty programs, reputation and I also liked the organizer that they would ship in. I agree with Chris. I have both the big rolling tool box but I also really rely on my go to set that's in an easy to grab container. I think one of the big reasons why I like it is I can grab everything at one time and I immediately know if I'm missing a socket or a wrench because it's not in its place. The drawers on my old toolbox was literally a massive junk drawer that you would spend so much time sorting through just to find out you were missing that socket.

Re: Tach keeping boat from accelerating.
Exactly, the tach is an indicator not a control device.

Re: Tach keeping boat from accelerating.
Faria will rebuild the tach if you ship it to them.
I don’t believe that the tach is the issue. The ECM manages the performance of the engine and alarms; as far as I’m aware, there is no bidirectional data flow from the gauges back to the ECM.

Re: Navionics Question
Agree goalie. I get paying for the Axiom chip, but $50 per year subscription should give us updates to the Axiom and use of the app's.
