Re: 410 with inboards?
Yep, Greg nailed it. All 410s are inboards. all 400s & 420s are I/Os. I've been on my share of all 3 of them. The 410 engine room is really kind of strange with lots of space in weird areas (just not what you are typically used to with all the space in the aft area of the ER). Also, I believe all 410s had arches, not hard tops. We've had a couple 410s in our marina over the years (actually one was in my slip before I moved into it) and even have one that comes each year to Rinkervous. @patmel is the 410 that we see every year there!

Re: High RPM Overheat
Be careful with that transom hose fitting. I learned the hard way why a lot of them dont get replaced. They become brittle and the bolts can easily break off. The only way to drill out the bolts are to then remove the engine...or buy a right angle drill. I was also thinking to check and make sure your exhaust flappers are still intact. That caused enough of a blockage on me that it had a similar reaction.

Re: Pet peeves about photos in used boat ads
Haha -- @Liberty44140 that's awesome. Last week, a buddy of mine who is a part-time broker asked me to captain a sea trial for him. He thinks I should do it when I retire. It would be an interesting gig for sure.

Re: 410 with inboards?
The 420 and 400 were IO’s. All of the 410’s were inboards. There were a few, very few, 342’s that had inboards. The IO version of that was faster and more efficient. Al posted about that and the article that was written a while back.

Re: Pet peeves about photos in used boat ads
When I was on my quest for a new boat last year the biggest problem I had was brokers and private sellers using photos of the boat when they bought it, like 5 or 10 years ago. Drove all the way from Michigan to Virginia to look at a boat that the broker assured me were recent pictures only to pull up to the boat and see an absolute disaster of damage on the outside. Actually went inside and talked to the broker to make sure I was looking at the right boat. After she lied to me again about the pictures being recent she wanted to know if I wanted to see the inside because it was supposedly in great shape. Cut my losses and went home, another 9 hours. When I sold my last boat I took recent pictures and the first person to look at it bought it on the spot because it actually looked like the pictures. Amazing concept, tell the truth and people trust you, who would have thought lol. Sorry about the rant, strangely I feel much better now lol.

Re: Replacement for non working ice maker
LaRea said:Yes, they are definitely expensive. And some people only use it a freezer, meaning they have to buy bagged ice at the store. But would you pay the price if it made ice that was drinkable?
I installed a canister water filter that serves my icemaker and cockpit sink. When I show up at the boat on Friday afternoon, there's 10 pounds of good-tasting ice waiting for me.

Definitely the route to go if you don't use or change your water every weekend. No sense in having an ice maker if you aren't going to eat/drink the ice! I only put in the water I believe I will use for the weekend. Every Friday or Thursday night I empty whatever is there and put new in.
Just this past weekend, we used ice for drinks on Thursday night. Anchored out both Friday and Saturday night, using the ice for us and another boat tied with us. Then they wanted the ice on Sunday for their drive back home. When we got back on Sunday, we hit shore for an hour then went out with our kids and had enough ice for a couple evening drinks. Perfect!
