DC System "grounds" check
I have digital displays and they just started cycling off then on real quick at engine start up. I have checked a couple sources and it seems this is not normal for my set up and there is likely some low voltage issue, hopefully a simple one. Batteries are new and exceed the min CCA. So I have been told to make sure the grounding is good.
After some online research in to what checking ground really means, it looks like for DC "check your ground" really means make sure all is good and clean with the black wire battery connection at the battery. Make sure zero volts between the post and connection. Then chase that to check the same on the starter, but that battery connection is really important
Sound right?

Re: Boat lists to port side
OK I will ask....... What the heII is the big deal if your boat lists a little bit when sitting in your slip? It a 15 to 20 thousand pound vessel and it leans an inch or 2 to the side. So what!!! LOL

Re: Boat lists to port side
Our 310 EC lists to starboard with an empty fresh water tank - and sometimes even with water. Lots of boats list a few inches on way or the other at some point. Just walk around your docks in the harbor. You'll find them. I gave up trying to shift stuff around. It's like a dog chasing its tail. You'll eventually catch it, but it'll still be there later to chase again.

Re: DC System "grounds" check
Yup, that's the main ground block. From the large size of those wires, I'm guessing you might have other secondary ground blocks elsewhere in the boat, like maybe one at the helm.

You also need to find your ground terminal block and make sure all the wires connected there are solid. That means (1) give each wire a firm pull to make sure it's tight in the crimp terminal, and (2) make sure the crimp terminal is securely connected to the terminal block.
Most Rinkers have a single ground terminal block and the wires are not labeled, but your boat might be different.

Re: New to me 272 - water and bilge issues
Hey Geoff. My 262 also collects under the fuel tank. It seems to be the lowest point in the boat. Once the level gets high enough it enters the bilge area. Easiest way to drain it is when you’re launching the boat. The angle on the ramp is enough to have the water move to the back of the boat and pour out the rear plug. Just don’t forget to put the plug in as you’re backing down the ramp lol. Another way is to get the boat moving say 10mph. Water will move to the back and you can bail it out with a manual bailer.
The bilge float switch should be hard wired to your battery or battery switch if you have more than one battery. That way if you leave your boat and it fills with water the bilge pump will run....until your battery is dead lol. On mine there is also a manual switch on the dash to run the bilge, although I don’t ever see a reason I would use this when it works automatically. I fill my boat with a garden hose every year to make sure bilge operation works, and the float switch still floats.

Re: Insurance question
Yes, it is but unless you are homeless with no assets you better have it.

Re: Tough start to my season -might need repowering. Thoughts?
Don’t think the 6.2 is a clean swap with the outdrive

Re: Air Condition Cockpit vent outlet Ideas
My cockpit air is a 16k unit. Has a total of six 3” vents and one return that is around 12 x 12”. My vents open, close, and turn so people can point them on themselves which is really nice. At the helm I like to be able to point it up at me when standing or down when I am sitting.
