Re: Beep when starting port engine
@YYZRC , I unplugged and looked at the connector for the water pressure sensor. There was some corrosion on the plug, I plugged it back in. Went to start the port engine and now no extra beep. I did change the fuel pressure regulator on the port side, thinking this could be my plug issue. Not sure if the water sensor or fuel pressure fixed it 🤷🏻♂️.

Re: What did you do to your boat today
Plugs usually look like that due to pre-detonation, excessive heat or lean running condition.
Probably would be a bad idea to remove them and to see what coloration they have before another run.
You monitor your temps like...a pilot. Probably safe to rule out any overheating although raw water cooled engines tend to run less overall balanced temp wise vs closed loop. I think the most drastic temp difference is #8 but my memory is fuzzy.
Anyway, possibly catch onto an issue, if there is one, before it becomes a major issue.

Re: What did you do to your boat today

Someone took a spill on my steps, and the middle one cracked. It didn't break all the way through, but it definitely would bend when stepped on. So I spread it open, glued it, and clamped it up. Much more rigid now.

People here are just amazing. The first two couples we met at the bar both offered us their cars for running errands.

Re: Trim tabs not working
Check all connections and grounds.
I had my controller go bad, I contacted Lenco and they sent me a new one for free.

I had the same experience, minus the free replacement.aero3113 said:Check all connections and grounds.I had my controller go bad, I contacted Lenco and they sent me a new one for free.
Assuming you have the Lenco tabs, there is a controller box behind the dash panel. Open it up and look for corrosion.

Re: Trim tabs not working
On my 342 they stopped working and after troubleshooting I found no power at the switches. They are fed from the 12vdc power receptacle right next to the switches. Cleaned the connections and works like it should. Mine was a nice easy fix. Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Pic Of The Day
New York City, Hudson River, Erie Canal, Oswego Canal to Lake Ontario.
@YYZRC - you could get from Annapolis to Lake Ontario in a week if you really wanted to make time.

Re: Hot water and water heater
@rasbury , keep a union fitting with you. If the heater does fail, take the union and connect the in and out hoses from the engine together.

@ian I should get a spray bottle of water like you use for training cats.
Another POTD. This big freighter passed us in the Welland Canal. The Welland requires a minimum of three people on pleasure crafts, so we hired a local guy called Roger. He has worked the canal for 40 years and knows everything about it. For example, this freighter was still in the lock when we got there. Roger said to tie up at the wall because it would take about 30 minutes. Sure enough, it was almost exactly 30 minutes. He said the lock is 80 feet wide and the ship is 78 feet wide.
We did the entire canal in only 8 hours which is really good time.
