@aero3113, which of your port side outlets is GFCI? None of mine are and that’s concerning for the head...

I want to do it but I’ve been having second thoughts. With the bins on the starboard side shelf and under the couch, we’ve been doing pretty well with storage.

@LaRea, what do you recommend for settings for the factory Clarion amp with no subwoofer?  I'm trying to figure out the x-over and gain settings.  Thanks!

  • With no sub-woofer, set both sides to:
    X-OVER MODE = OFF
    X-OVER FREQ = (not used)

In case other readers are curious:

The crossover is only used with a subwoofer.  You'd set the crossover mode to LPF (low-pass filter), meaning it only sends low frequencies to the subwoofer.

If one side of the amp has regular speakers, you'd set the crossover mode on that side to HPF (high-pass filter), meaning it only sends high frequencies.  Or you might set it to OFF so it sends the full signal.

The FREQ adjustments change the cutoff frequency.  You'd probably just set them in the middle, and then tweak them to see what sounds best.

Thank you @LaRea ! What do you recommend for gain settings and what does it do?

  • Start by setting the gains at the 12 o'clock position.  If the speakers on the "front" channel are louder or quieter than the ones on the "rear" channel, you can use the gains to equalize them.

Then, if you want a little more volume, you could try increasing the gains.  If you go too high, you might hear some distortion, and then you'll know to back off a little.

On the bass boost, it all depends on your speakers and how you like your music.

I pulled the amp out and set everything as you suggested @LaRea - the hum was still present so I dropped the gain down to zero and now everything is perfect.

When trying to get up on plane my boat struggles and sounds like it’s cavitating badly. Especially starboard. The sound is very distinct but hard to describe - almost like I’m towing a parachute. I can’t get over 4000 rpm until it planes. Normal?

Make sure your drives are trimming all the way down and not hanging up. Check by eye if you can, not the gauges.

Mine is similar.  I ease into the throttle very slowly, trying to avoid it.  Putting on the patching 22P props may have helped a bit this year too.

From what I gather it is “normal” for this hull.
