Do some research on tefgel. From what I read it is supposed to insulate stainless screws from the aluminum top to prevent electrolysis. I used it when installing new nav light. Can’t hurt
@pcmpete would you be able to take some photos of where the canvas attaches to the hardtop? I need to install the U channel to hold the canvas bead. Trying to get a sense of how deep the channel is installed at various points.
You want to drill into the hard top? Is it 100% fibreglass? My EC260 radar arch was actually aluminum but had some kind of gelcoat on it, and if you dared drill into it, it was bad news ... would crack, spald, and if water gets under that layer and in particular freezes ... you will have a mess in no time.
@oscar1 on your boat, how does the connector go into the track for the aft part of the canvas? And what holds it in place? Are there domes at the ends?
I going to take some pic for you today, but I have made a custom enclosure to fit my new hardtop. But they installed flexible track with stainless steel screws every 4inches in the front, rear and legs of the edge of the hardtop.
Thanks so much @oscar1 ! I probably just need pictures of both ends, please.
I am doing the same thing that you have done. I have most of the flex track installed now. I am guessing that part fits snug (the welt is the exact length of the track) and doesn't move.
@aero3113 do you have any pics of the arch hinges open? I snapped this pic of the forward bolt but I am trying to determine how the hinge mounts to the hull.
You're awesome, thanks @aero3113 ! That answers my question.
I think you are correct about how it is thru-bolted and I think that's where @oscar1 had to be creative. The base of the hardtop is about 1" thick so the bolts look to be about 1" too short.
@oscar1 do you remember how you fixed this? Are the bolts accessible through the speaker hole perhaps?
I have to remove the cockpit refrigerator, and storages box in the starboard side to get to the bolt, in the port side i remove the seat locker plus the garbages bins to get to the bolt and i used stainless steal coupling nut and stainless steal stud to extend the length of the factory stud and a lot of 3m 5200

My boat has speakers right below the arch mount so hopefully I can access there.
