Pumps are ready to go in. While they were out, I had the brackets sand blasted and powder coated. I was going to spray paint them myself but figured since there’re so low on the engine it will prevent future rust.
@YYZRC , I would love to start a business. It’s tough though with my full time job, a 6 month old and a 2 1/2 year old! Today I was up at 3:15 am for a 5:00 departure for one of the planes I look after. Came home took a 2 hour nap, then my wife went to work. Luckily my 2 1/2 year old is at day care today and I was able to put the pumps together when the 6 month old took a nap!
@aero3113 is it a weep hole or to use with an awl or allen wrench to lock the shaft if you have to remove the pulley? See if it lines up with a hole in the shaft.
@LaRea , yes there quick release fittings. They were installed on the boat already. I would think they were original to the boat. They seem to work pretty well.
When I first started working on the boat I replaced all of the blue plastic plugs with new plastic ones. A few weeks later I saw the Hardin stainless ones. In a couple of seasons I’ll probably replace them with the stainless ones.
The quick release is a smart idea. If anybody can recommend a source, I'm interested. I have some old injuries that make it really hard for me to reach those hose clamps.
@LaRea , #5 and #6 in this diagram. There is also a quick disconnect at the transom also if you want to install that too (you don’t have to, not sure why it’s there?) If you do you will need an extra #5 and a #7.
It says for a 4.5L MPI but would think it’s the same part for all engines. At least you have part numbers you can research and see. Reasonable price too!!

I installed both of my pumps today. Inspect your hose clamps!! This was the port side outlet hose clamp. The other half was ready to break at any time!
Psi sensor is in the power steering cooler right by the dizzy. It would though a code and beep but the water would continue to poor in as that hose is below the water line. After you mentioning this and rasbury bilge filling up i'm thinking high water alarm and a camera.
Chances are you would just have a small drip, the hoses are very stiff and would not come off , also those hoses tend to glue themselves on and are very hard to remove. Still why take a chance and that was a good find. I just don't think it would do anything but drip.
If it ever does happen, umm, it would be best if you are wearing brown pants.
It will spew water like crazy as long as the engine is running. Probably not so bad after shutting down.
Yes, I've been there done that. As a matter of fact, over the 7+ years I've owned this boat, I've had 4 different water hoses come off at one time or another while out in the bay. & yes, I do check my clamps and have replaced most, if not all at this point. Luckily I always keep spares. I will say, in a pinch, the hose clamp on your genny exhaust is plenty large enough for almost all hoses (don't ask me how I know :- ).
