Made it in the water this weekend, been a long struggle but powered though to the finish. Motors are running good she come up on plane really nice 7mph to 26mph in 4 seconds only bought it up to 3800rpm (???tacks??) 30mph so far but I have 1.1 hours on the motors now.
We launched today, got about 6 miles from the yard and the starboard engine goes into overheat alarm. UGH!
Immediately shutdown, looked at the engine - no apparent coolant leaks, etc. Used the laser infrared thermometer and it, and the dash, was reading 220. Turned around and called the yard that we were coming back on one engine.
Got back to the yacht yard, owner/mechanic met us and first question he asked was: "Did you put it in reverse?" I said "Huh?" He said if it was a plastic bag sucked around the intake the combination of shutting the engine down and then reversing with the other, it will force the bag off of the intake.
It was an hour since I shut it down, so he started it up, revved it for awhile, then we took it out for a quick test drive. Temp came up to 160 and never went above that.
Dropped him off at the dock and we went on our merry way to our homeport to start another season. He said there was a lot of sh!t in the river this spring, especially plastic bags. On our way we starting looking especially hard and saw so much trash it was pretty pathetic.
So lesson is: If you get a high temp alarm - shut down the engine, and put the other one in reverse to see if that will solve your problem. Could save you a trip to the mechanic.
yep coming out of my marina there are a lot of weeds once out where the water drops off I always put it in reverse to clean the weeds off the prop and drive
Got her launched yesterday! Glad to be back in the water. Had my mechanic meet me which was well worth it, changed my belts and then we went for a short ride just so that he could check everything over after the winter.
Thanks aero, the socks come with a thin string tie at the top and I just put 5 or six hitches around the top of the antenna with that string. Initially I tapped it too but the tape came off after one trip. Just the string is all that’s needed. Ran the boat wide open for a bit yesterday and all good.
@Liberty44140 , I just bought these and two socks. I’m going to use 1/4 pipe or PVC and install them on my pilings. If for some reason it doesn’t work, it will go on my VHF antenna.
Nice aero. Let me know if you think they will work on a vhf. The socks don’t last forever so it would be nice to be able to switch them out easily with something like that.
Waves are white capping thanks to 15 mph winds and a few gusts up to 30 but has been a nice weekend to launch.
Water temp is about 69 degrees. It's in the low 70s.
Had a gust of wind blow one of my stern lines off my transom and into the water which I found with my prop. Made it fun backing off the launch dock. I'm glad I was at idle speeds when she shut down!
Also had some stitching come out of my bimini that I'll need to repair.
If that's all the issues ill have this weekend I'll take it.
@Liberty44140 , I received the mounting rings today. Looks like they would work well on the VHF antenna. I might end up doing that also instead of on the pilings, not sure yet.
installed a small video game system on the boat with over 600 old school nes and similar games. Will keep the kid busy while the water is too cold to swim in and I'm fishing.
I didn't catch crap all weekend. I thought the little protected cove was a perfect fishing spot. Before we left Sunday I found schools of 3 plus ft gar breeding all around us, so now I know why out worms/night crawlers didn't get much attention in an area where we usually cant keep fish off the hook.
I treat gar like I do large sharks, rays and eels, cut the line when they get close. I'm not wrestling with one of those prehistoric beasts. I plan on being on the water again this weekend, i will choose another cove to fish in.
Also, why were you playing with a gar? Was there alcohol involved? You're not far enough south to just be trying to impress your redneck buddies!!!

What set up did you use, I have done this twice. First time was on a Wii with all the emulators about 9 years which worked at the time but it wasn't as easy to use as the new set up. The second current time was raspberry pi running retropie on an arcade station I made. We have all the NES, SNES and Sega games on it.

How do you keep the Mylar windsock on your VHF antenna? I’m thinking of getting 2 for my dock.
