A Diesel engine that doesn’t leak oil. What is that.
In the Marines that was how we knew the engine was out of oil.

    That is a long ride

One of my coworkers has a friend that rides his bike extreme distances all over North and South America. I can't remember his website where he post everything though 😕.

It has been a great October, definately one to remember. I had to come out early because of other commitments so I did miss out . Our marina shuts off the power October 15th which is a bit of a bummer . Nice to see you had a good fall Simcoe.

Yeah, our marina left everything on until today. But that last day was crazy hot, and at night, it got cold. I had to heat the boat with the generator before going to bed, lol.

@GMSLITHO not good. Where I live we have brush fires that have been burning for weeks. The smell is horrible and the smoke burns your eyes.

We have lived through Florida just being on fire everywhere- its all gown back up (what hasn't been paved over!) and it was not fun. We live in the city but you did not have to go far to find fire.

Here's a section of the route I'll be following over the next few days on the Tombigbee River from Demopolis down to Mobile.  Twisty!  Mobile is only 125 miles from here, but it's 220 miles by water.

It's a wonder how a river would have formed that way unless there are some really big hills!

One more pic:  transiting the lock at Columbus Alabama with a big tow hauling rock and a giant excavator.  This was the 100th lock we have navigated in the past five months!  (Yeah, I keep track and don't mock my OCD!)  Only two more locks before we hit the Gulf of Mexico.  Then we have no more locks, but we have to deal with salt and tides again.

The lockmaster at Columbus is awesome.  She has the most beautiful deep-South accent, almost like she's singing!

Then you have to ask, how did the hills get there?  Where we are, the river carved a section out of the shale bearing soil.  Basically took the least resistant path, and eroded, eroded, eroded for years ... and now it looks like a basin ... about 60 ft (or more) deep to the river.

Here's proof that I am now in ... The South.  She looks to be about 8 feet long and blissfully enjoying this sunny afternoon.  Mental note to self, no river swimming around here!

Based on the color of that water, I’m not sure swimming was a realistic option anyway. Or maybe I’m a princess.
