Re: Replacing spin latches on windscreen window/door (solved)
I drilled them out and used screws on my former boat.

Re: How Many Rinker Cruisers on Lake Simcoe?
Everything fine, wife has been having dental procedures and it's started to act up. Dentist sent a prescription to Gaurdian Drugs so all good, hopefully it will be Ok for the next 2 weeks.

Re: Ice maker Uline - repair or replace (by another ice maker or a fridge)
Probably just needs to be charged with refrigerant. Any refrigeration company should be able to do that for you, or your marina can coordinate for a small markup.

If there’s a leak, which is likely as it’s almost 20 years old, you are probably better off replacing it with a fridge. It looks like there’s lots of room to the right of the ice maker. Is there anything in that hollow space? It looks like you could install a CRX80 in there!!

I replaced my uline ice maker with the CRX80 as they were the same height.

Re: What did you do to your boat today
Stayput Fastener Shock Cords were installed on the stern such that if center canvas was rolled up, there is nothing holding the left corner of the canvas to the right. When traveling on plane, that corner would flap real bad in the breeze. Installed an additional Shock Cord to hold it in place. Appropriate size shock cords were found here.

Re: Volvo Beeping
Got the Rinda Techmate Pro yesterday. Scanned and found 4 codes this morning. Cleared them then went for a test ride. One kept coming up.... SPN 4237 FMI 0 Exhaust 1/LT Fuel Trim. Basically this is reporting a lean combustion condition. Online reading pointed me towards fuel restrictions, bad sensors, exhaust leak or stuck injectors.
First thing I did was run over to the local Volvo dealer {5 minutes away) and grabbed a new fuel filter. I also put a can of Sea Foam in the tank. This boat has been in storage for over 3 years with a 1/2 tank of gas so who knows what is lurking in the filter. I crawled down into the engine bay and I just started to slip the filter wrench over the filter when I saw that it was barely screwed on! I replaced it with the new one and properly installed it. After purging the air out, I made several runs on the lake to try and reproduce the fault but no go..... No faults!
So much for the dealer checking everything over during prr-delivery inspection. I'm thinking the filter was sucking air since I now realize the low pressure pump was gurgling every time I keyed up.
Couldn't have done anything without the scan tool.

Adding sound deadening to the vee. Hoping to limit the clunk of the waves when at anchor overnight.

Re: Phalanx CIWS installation questions
Not overkill at all. I say do it. It is also good for the wake surf boat that is showing off in front of your marina for hours on end. A little warning shot across the bow usually gets them to stop.

Re: Joke of the Day

I recently spent $6,500 on this registered Black Angus bull.
I put him out with the herd but he just ate grass and wouldn't even look at a cow.
I was beginning to think I had paid more for that bull than he was worth.
Anyway......I had the Vet come and take a look at him.
He said,, the bull was very healthy, but possibly just a little young, so he gave me some pills to feed him once per day.
The bull started to service the cows within two days……. all my cows!
He even broke through the fence and bred with all of my neighbor's cows!
He's like a machine!
I don't know what was in the pills the Vet gave him ... but they kind of taste like peppermint.
