@rasbury , with dry joint manifolds and risers there’s really no way for the water to get to the cylinders. That’s why that came out with this design.

I believe it was a hardine marine 
stainless riser.  I think it was in one of the boating magazines i get.   Seems like a cool concept.

So that link says 5 years for risers. 

Wondering if I have dry joint or not. Seems silly to go through all that work to switch a motor and fresh water without doing dry joint..

Every 5 years is for wet joint. @J3ff if you wanted to switch over to dry joint, I don’t think it’s just swapping the manifolds and risers out, there’s more to it.

So if I'm 3 years in I'm okay? The mechanic that was working on mine says he swaps them every 2 years and that I've got to swap mine asap.

Did not take them off. Just saying they should be done.

Up to you but I would say you still have a couple of years left. If you want, have him remove them, take a look and just replace the gaskets.

The link says gaskets every 2 years (wet joint), but that seems early to me also.

If your closed water cooled and only doing risers and exhaust elbows, super easy to do yourself.

back in the water as of this morning, needs a huge cleaning but dry bilge for now, will check again in a couple hours

The secret to boating success:

Buy buisness where boat is tax write off.

Sell boat before warranty is up

Buy new boat and write off on taxes.

so I went back down a few hours later. THERE WAS WATER IN THE BILGE!!!!

Before I completely flipped, decided to go back inside and have a drink. Made a drink....went back out and took a closer look. 

Hot water tank fitting was leaking after I pressurized the system..



Replaced this with a metal quick connect fitting, dried up the bilge and I guess we'll see what it looks like tomorrow!

Was about to go nuclear after returning the trailer/truck, etc and seeing water down there!!

That was the idea! Have it nice to be right outside the door. Haven't really been able to enjoy that just yet! Will try going forward.

Another bonus, the radio no longer has power, breaker seems to have popped but it wont click back in... fun!

Seems like the radio just decided to die. I've verified that there is power going right to the plug that plugs into the back of the stereo..

Bilge does seem much better, still a tiny bit of water, but that's probably from me draining the water heater yesterday...so far so good.

The next problem just happened, we've got a super low tide here because of winds out of the north east blowing all the water out of the bay... (according to a neighbor)... so now I'm shuffling around trying to find a safe spot at the dock... out drive is fine, but it gets super shallow close to the dock!

Figured out that when you combine the batteries at the battery switch the radio turns on right away. 

Must have put one wire where it shouldn't be, going to track it down now.
