So how do you go from the plane to the island, did you crash?
Uber of course!
Took a quick flight to the West Coast of FL early this morning to visit a friend and do some boating! Saw a couple pods of dolphin right up close! Couldn't believe it!!
Stopped by this place (no, not on that boat)...never have seen a McD's with a dock!
Then swung by this island (not sure the name)... looked like a post card, had to snap a photo.
Hey, FL ain't to bad, your on keys time...might as well be in the Bahamas...on the plus side, just motored to a little marina, taking a little cruise up to another marina to spend the night...
Cool - it's pretty chilly up where I am right now, I think you're North of here, perfect time to sleep on the boat!
Your boat done yet @J3ff? Hey, I have a really dumb question for you on your cabin leak...happened to me this past weekend and I'm sure you know about it but....so underneath the helm there is a drain so when the area around the door/step area starts to fill will water it has a place to go...very small drain and takes nothing to block it...I had a couple of oak tree leafs there and flooded the cabin, this is something you have checked right??
Yup, that wasn't it. I have a 5 or so screws that were very suspect. The biggest suspect was the one on the left side of the windshield closest to the center window that swings open.
The others were on the side rail, 3 to 4 of them just spun in place when I tried to back them out.
Since resealing all of them on the port side the carpet has been completely dry and we have had some MASSIVE rain storms.
It pains me to think about it, but I have wondered if the STBD side is doing the same thing and that I just haven't found it yet.
ya, he's gone for another week or so. Going to make the best of it and super clean (and maybe paint) the "engine room", change out the water heater and swap the rusty trim bracket for SS one. Will have to see what the weather is going to be. All of that could end up not happening if it's a great jetski weather weekend.. really embracing this Key's lifestyle (ie. "it can be done tomorrow, have fun today")
Wave forecast is 5 to 7 feet this weekend. 50% chance of rain, looks like last weekend was all about having fun, this weekend is work work work (on the boat).
The best bumper sticker i have see was in the keys, it read "my life is better than your vacation"
If i ever win the lotto a property on big pine or little torch will be first on my list.
I want rural enough where i can rebuild cabs on old motors and replace a few impellers in the yard when im not just a jerk hanging onto a pole waiting on a jerk from the other end.
Ha ha, that's great. Yeah it has def. been weird adjusting to a life of "gotta go on the boat every weekend" (because it's only in the water for 6/7 months out of the year) to "meh, maybe next weekend"
currently it's 62 and super windy outside. Up north when Fall hit we used to get what I thought was crazy wind... down here we get crazier wind on random days like today..
Ps. this weekend looks like another non-boating weekend here in the keys. Will spend it doing some work on the boat that I said I'd do last weekend, but never did
Do you use your hot water heater that much? The ambient temp in the keys and comfortable water temp is not that far apart. Just asking to see how it's utilized in the south.

Good luck with everything coming together
The southern Florida indigenous folks consider anyting below 82 degrees cold and need a heated pool 6 plus months of the year.
We are spoiled with water temps in the 80 to mid 80s from June until October every summer.
Over night temps from June until October are also usually 70 plus.
