LoL @Handymans342 , special filters designed by Rolls Royce. I’m not sure of a cabin cycle inspection, if there is one, I’m sure the number is extremely high.
@YYZRC they can’t risk weakening the material. That old cowling will have the leading edge removed and a new one installed. Then be sold as a repaired unit, probably for $800,000.00 🙄 LoL
Years ago, I did some work with an investment casting factory. You wouldn't believe what it takes to manufacture those turbine blades. The labor, the huge amounts of energy consumed ... it's quite a process.
The fan typically spins 3000-4000 RPMs. The low pressure and high pressure shafts spin much much faster. If the fan was spinning any faster, it would go supersonic and become noisy and less efficient.
Your right @69fastback , I was thinking HP and LP. Jet engines are noisy because they are spinning close to supersonic, they would really scream at supersonic. LoL
I like the pictures and chat about those jet engine's. i think it's great even though it's a boating forum. Oh as @LaRea said we are a drinking forum with a boating problem.
