I'm just wondering if I can't fabricate some beams myself ... Just use a 6 x 6 post capped with some 2 x 8's or something ... don't know ... I need to span my 14' wide pool, want to make the rink 20' wide, so the joist would have 3ft of ground support on each side.  I can still get plywood if I pay.
6*6*16 currently about $80. 2*8*16 about $30 so you'd be almost $200 each support by the time you add side supports.
Edit: checked at work thus morning. 6x6x16 now $87 And PT 2x8x16 is $49. Spruce is $33. TJI if you can find them are likely cheaper.

That is as good as it gets without water. So jealous. Chicago area doesn't freeze like it use to.

-4 F today before wind chill. Some fresh snow. Waiting on smoked pig shots from the Traeger and then into the backyard sauna for the afternoon with some beers while the back ribs smoke. Gonna be a tough day.

I’m worried about @Willhound. Someone should do a wellness check - he might be the happiest guy in Ontario right now.

If a hot sauna, cold beer and various bits of smoked pork goodness make you happy, then quite possibly I am. Although I'd rather be doing what @J3ff is doing right now. 🙄

Sorry gang. Not boating related but it's  my favourite winter activity. Started to smell pork cooking.....and it wasn't the Traeger. So time to get out and cool off.

ISS flying by the Big Dipper on my way home inflight. Not very exciting but something interesting and makes you feel very small. You can see it off the outer edge of Dubhe in the Big Dipper.

My sons ag mechanics project this year. He’s showing them in San Angelo next week. He busted his butt building these things. Maybe not too tough for carpenter type guys, but it’s a pretty good looking project for an 11 year old. Hoping to make sale! But regardless, we’ve had a great time building them.

Thanks. He really enjoys this every year. The bees are a hot agricultural topic right now, and I’ve never seen anyone build hives for these competitions, so hopefully they stand out.

I get new tools every year out of these projects Lol. I got a finish nailer and a router out of this one.
