Good eye. After the flooding a couple weeks ago, the debris is BAD ... much worse than it looks in that photo. I would not run a boat on plane. (But it doesn't stop the serious anglers, who were out there this morning zooming around at 50 mph.)
We pulled docks last weekend and there was so much crap in the river. And no recent rains, thinking they opened up the canal locks to start letting down water.
Finally had the blocks installed in the cupola of the pavilion so our weathervane could be installed. This weathervane was used on the property of my wife’s grandparents summer house (where we got married and had our wedding reception) Our Rinker is named after the house also. Just before the house was sold (durning closing), I went up on the roof and swapped it out with a smaller one that was on the boat house. I was told by someone who restores weathervanes that it’s close to 200 years old.
Beautiful! Promise us you'll never touch the finish on that thing. Any change other than mechanical repairs would only make it worse.
I got a quote of around $500 to restore it about 4 years ago. It’s left wing is slightly bent and has a small crack, half of the E is missing also. I would hate to lose the patina so I haven’t moved forward with it.
This eagle is from the house also. It’s about 5 feet wide and extremely heavy. I have a perfect spot for it on the house where our deck is. It has great patina also.

That looks awesome and of course it means something to both of you so you should have it on display and used on your property.
