@YYZRC this is what it looked like when I took the cover plate off. I forgot to take a pic when I was done but was way neater!! The sealant around the cover plate will be painted once it cures.
@YYZRC it is but on a G650 it’s not called that. It’s a smart probe, no separate air data computers, it’s all integrated in the black cylinder on each probe. No lines are hooked up to it either, all electronic.
@YYZRC , you’re right. I just looked it up. They think ice crystals formed on the pitot and it gave them wrong info and they ended up stalling the aircraft.
Our mechanic stood up directly under a heated probe and got a nice burn on the back of his neck 😂.
They did get mixed information if I recall correctly they were stalled but the airspeed was increasing so rather than pitch down to break the stall they continued to hold pitch level and just stayed in a stalled attitude. The probes freezing over have them the bad information.

They only rely on one? Or multiple sensor failure (which would be unusual)?
@MarkB if one fails the pilots are supposed to switch over to a good system. I guess it’s possible on an older aircraft for the complete system to fail.
We had one when I was a kid and finally remembered the name..it was a fox trac and had a paw print as the emblem...broke more time than not...in the summertime they would have drag races on the wheat stubble fields...

Yes. Stalling because they thought they were going down and kept pulling up and losing speed instead of the opposite and push down.
