Check this classic '85 Chris-Craft Constellation 50. At $89k, it's a bit more spendy than some of the boats we've discussed in this thread, but well-kept and tons of room. Never seen a huge swim platform like that on an old Chris-Craft. Trustworthy broker (Curtis Stokes).
I'm eye balling a Sea Ray 380...guy at my harbor has for sale.
Is it the pre 2006ish 380, similar to an 03, or the post 2006ish that has the center transom door? If the latter, we looked at one seriously but if you look at the forward cabin it has almost zero storage and would not work well for more than a couple of days of cruising. The 390/40 had a ton more storage up front.
Searay has made some pretty boats. I really like the old weekenders, pre mid 80s. Huge solid boats. Not so sure about the new ones. Does anyone else think that the searay fly 400 is just a searay doing it's best impression of a carver?
I could see @J3ff chilling in there, so glad he doesn't have stern drives and can still put around in his 120hp diesel sipper with enough money left to put that jet ski on top!
@Liberty44140 - It's a 2000. Potentially going from a 270 to a 380 would be hard to complain about not enough storage. Lol
Ha, true but for $200k you'd get sick of living out of a duffel pretty quick. The early 2000's era 380 is plenty big, has tons of storage, its basically the modern 40 (and half the price of that storage less modern 380 . Great boat!

If there was an outboard powered boat that has a big table up front and a nice bedroom in the back that was something other than the Sea Ray venture 370.. I'd be looking at that too. There is at least one other kind, that has the exact same thing. However it is not as nice and more expensive!!
I suppose boats just weren't made for bachelors like myself to live on and go enjoy! As soon as those Sea Ray 370 venture prices come back to Earth it's going to be hard to not jump on one.
J3ff I definitely think you are unique buyer wanting the forward table. We were unique buyers too not caring about an aft cabin. There are indeed very few larger boats with that forward dinette that you want and still big enough to live on.
I was looking around online yesterday at yachtworld and boattrader for a friend who is shopping and WOW there are a lot of boats hitting the market..... but they are still listed at peak prices. Will be interesting to see how much they fall.
Yeah @Liberty44140, the price storm isn't over yet. According to my broker friend, the average sale price for 342s sold in the US in Nov-Dec was $65k. That's almost what I got for my 342 when I sold it 10 years ago.
[EDIT: Correction, that statement is misleading because it doesn't account for inflation. Here's a better figure: if the boat I sold in 2012 had depreciated 5% per year, adjusting for inflation, it would sell for $54k today. Instead, similar boats are selling for $65k, or 20% higher than I'd expect.]

Wonder how much it would cost to take an inboard boat, about 40 ft, sea ray or rinker, or whatever...would prefer to have wrap around windows like the venture 370, and remove the front bed and put a table in.. the other thing that the venture has, is that outdoor cooking area.. that is amazing for not getting smells or the cabin dirty.. Eventually I suppose I'll just have to overextend myself a bit and go for it.. in my mind it's the perfect keys liveaboard....
The Venture is listing for $215k to $280k. If that's within reach, look at all the other boats in that price space: Doral 45 Alegria, Carver 460 Voyager, Regal 4460, Meridian 411 Sedan ... all of which have twice the living space and amenities.

Yes that's the problem. 215 is not within reach! Maybe 90k is within reach.. 🤣
Have you looked at old Bluewaters? You'd never be able to cruise in any kind of bad weather, but they are roomy and cheap. Like this one for $40k in Bradenton FL:

Looks like the cosmetics have been brought back up to snuff. Lots of times these guys that take pictures rando and I'm sure it makes sense to them. These photos really flow with the layout of the boat. Me unfamiliar as I've never been on a vessel like this does not help when i look at these adds. I could live on this and feel like a baller!

Embrace old age and a taste of old Florida style.

Besides, actually leaving the slip is over rated.
