Got all of the injectors cleaned. The injector test kit really works well. I’m sure it’s not as good as a professional cleaning and test but does the job. I have no clue what happened to this injector. Almost looks like it was melted on one side. It tested good so I’m going to run with it. (By the way, this is my 10,000th post! ⚓️
lol! I have about 4 of them I use for stuff like this. Weird thing is I don’t know how/when I started using them. We currently use the same ones in our bathroom now. My wife hasn’t said that there’s any missing so I guess I’m good!
I received the new lower intake for the starboard engine today. Will try to put the injectors, upper intake, throttle body and thermostat on it tonight.

Thanks aero for the posts. We all learn a lot following your "tribulations" and fun!
@aero3113, I'm looking at your pictures of the intakes with particular interest..i could not reconcile in my mind how your intake looks vs how I remembered mine. A couple pages back I see a top view of the upper intake off the motor. The area I'm looking at is where the rotor goes through. That webbing area is where i have significant corrosion from the out side as I'm closed cooling. I need to go to storage, remove the rotor cap so I can get a better look and wire brush the rust- see if it's repairable. I need to figure out how to divert the water coming through that compartment.
I installed the intake today. Ran into an a slight issue. The valve covers I painted, I bought on eBay to replace mine. They were a little rusty and seemed better just to buy different ones. Well, the ones I bought were both left side covers. Never knew that they’re different. My fault for not realizing. I found a different set and now have to wait for them to finish putting everything back together. I also saw that my original covers and the eBay ones were painted inside. My port side weren’t painted inside and the second eBay pair aren’t either. The ones for this engine were bubbling and I just touched the bubbles and the paint started flaking off. This could’ve been a big issue!
Well that just sucks. As far as mine, I hopefully can just pull the rotor cap to get to it as i dont want to pull that rotor if I dont have to. Those are torrag screws for that cap? I know i replaced the cap/rotors and wires a couple of years back...
I went and took the FJ40 out for a drive and it felt like the brake master cylinder was failing. The brake pedal would drop then catch lower to the floor. Luckily it has a dual brake master cylinder!! Parts on order. Maintenance never ends!! LoL !!
