Handy, mine is fast enough for me it does about 28 knts at wot not that I very often travel at wot. I don't know if you know the solent but it's packed with boats so can be difficult to get to that speed anyway. I have started putting it at about 1200 revs and I get about 5.5 knots which is give or take hull speed I enjoy the journey can relax much more now and just enjoy life not to sure what I am burning now but it's in single digits an hour
Pulled the plugs out of the old motor, a couple cups of water poured out of cyl #3.. cannot turn engine over with plugs out.. seems to be completely seized.
Not sure... insurance has said they will pay for complete disassembly to find the cause. At this point not sure it's worth pursuing further. It'd be nice if they will cover removing the engine as part of the claim, will call them tomorrow to discuss next move.
No idea- honestly I'm a little bit too busy to even worry about it at this point, but the marina did send me a separate bill for around 1000 dollars which was just the cost of removing the engine and drive.
So things are almost finished here.
Here's some progress pictures (thanks to all the help from everyone here)
New 383 FWC installed: (will have to clean up the bilge this winter.)
Old Switches (forgot to take a photo till after I started)
New Switches: (bothers me that they dont perfectly line up... but 100% improvement)
Swim platform supports repaired and waterproofed (transom checked out all good, thank god).
Original outdrive installed to new transom mount.
I believe they are going to sea trial it tomorrow and if nothing goes wrong I'll have it out Friday after work for the first fun relaxing trip.
I replaced everything with LEDS in and out and put the new Clarion stereo in today.. she's ready for some fun!
What's the thought on the hour meter? I've got a zero hour motor... do you reset it? Will it already be reset or do I just say "replaced at 800 hours" somewhere in the log book?
Beautiful job! I know you've been thru so much, time to enjoy!! As far as hour meter, are you actually able to reset? Not sure that it matters which way you go as long as you keep track. Lots of great weather left to enjoy!

I would buy a seperate hour meter that runs off coil wire and just install in the engine compartment hooked up to the new motor. If anyhone wants to actually see they can just scan the factory computer and will see it started at 0 hours.
Just installed a hour meter in engine compartment this spring, $35 at local boat shop easy to install, it come with a wire you wrap around any plug wire, then mound some where. I mounted mine to a 2x2 inch small metal 90 degree angle bracket. then bend it slightly, to see it beter, Put it behind engine and used a hole already there under wiring harness. Only 46 hours this year.
Picking the boat up today @ 4!! Going to spend all weekend on it!! As long as nothing goes wrong (knocking on wood)! It's like Christmas eve over here!
Thats great news. That boat should get up and go. Hopefully youll post some video of it haulin azz. Smooth sailing from here on out! The pics of the new switch covers are sweet, id love to order a set!
Just got back to the dock... boat did great. Didn't really push it yet, but did quickly go WOT, hit 36mph, wasn't paying attention to the RPM's. Really don't know how it compares to the 350, but I do know it starts, runs smooth, and goes fast, will be checking oil everyday we go out for the rest of the season Will install the vessel view tomorrow and get some more accurate readings, but for now just varying throttle in all circumstances, had a beautiful steak for dinner with friends out on the water and went for a swim.. this is what it's all about! (Picture from this evening)
Will be spending pretty much the entire weekend on the boat..
