I replaced the toilet bowl ball seals. The toilet wasn’t holding water. I replaced them when we first bought the boat so it lasted 5 years. Easy and straight forward.
I got to deal with a clog on my vacuflush and after monkeying around with hoses, plungers, and other ideas I forgot I had this which fixed it in a couple seconds. I didn't know what it was until I came across it online when I was looking for ideas and remembered there was one onboard.
When I thought I had a clog I read that you need to only plung the plunger down not up on a Vacuflush toilet. It can invert the duck bills. I didn’t know that before I did it but luckily it didn’t invert them. Has anyone heard of this happening?
I thought about the duck bills when I was doing that but they are a long way from the toilet and then on a different hose out of the tank. Seems like it would take way more power than a plunger to invert them.
Thanks. My Dad is original owner. It's a 59 Chevrolet Apache Fleetside. Both me, and my brother learned how to drive in it. When Dad passed, my brother got it, and unfortunately it just sits there now.....
My idle on my port engine was at around 800-1000 after a run across the bay. I went into the engine room and manually pulled the throttle to idle and it moved slightly. Idle went down to 600. I shut down. I removed the throttle cable and manually moved the throttle linkage, it was binding towards idle. Took some WD-40 and sprayed the shaft near the spring. Moved it back and forth a few times and she was as smooth as could be again.⚓️
@Aqua_Aura I will be interested in your review of the speakers. I put in a new Fusion stereo I bought off of @LaRea and now I am wanting better speakers. I have decent credit at WM so I might just use it on that. I had to pull my boat from the water yesterday. My lift snapped. The boat isn't bottom painted so I didn't want to leave it in the water too long. The lift is an elevator style that is popular on the canals in FL. Not so much up here. So I am now at the crossroads of do I fix it or replace it. The part that broke was the main IBeam guide that the lift slides on. It snapped about 2ft under the water. Apparently that beam is driven into the soil and is going to have to be dug out with an excavator on a barge. Then a new one driven in. I definitely cant leave it there. That piece of metal would be the death of any boat at low tide.
@davidbrooks As an owner of a lift for 18 years in your boating area, I'd say it's best to replace. The brackish water has caused more harm than it is worth spending all that money only for something else to break right in the middle of boating season (again).
@Dream_Inn that is the likely path i am going to take. It all comes down to cost at this point. I have my daughters wedding to pay for this fall sooooo....funds are low right now for things I want. I am not a fan of the elevator design in the first place.
I am going to order the speakers and amplifier today and it takes a day or two to get here. As far as installing it may take a couple weeks due to my schedule I have coming up. I will definitely let you know how it turns out.
Added two slam latches to the hatch on my 246's swim platform. Secures the hatch a bit better when the grill is mounted (installed by previous owner) and provides an additional spot for more secure storage. Since the space beneath the hatch has a built-in overboard drain I may use it to store the 1 pound propane bottles provided there is no chance of propane leaking into the bilge (will have to investigate further). Also just finished buffing and waxing the boat, ready to splash this weekend.
I posted before about Amazon US and Canadian links: Just change the .ca to .com (or visa-versa) - and about 99.9% of the time you will get the exact same product.
And another helpful hint: Nothing after the ? (question mark) in a link is required. It's all tracking info.
If you get rid of everything after (and including the question mark) - "?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title" you are left with: "https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B07R6GDVDZ" -- that's all you need.
Change .ca to .com and viola - you get the same item in the US!
Some of the cockpit courtesy lights were missing their lenses so I decided to replace the oem white LEDs with, you guessed it, blue LEDs. Added an extra light to the aft end of the transom walk-through so it is better lit now.
I washed and washed and washed some more. All those weeks on land allowed a bird to build a nest in my anchor hatch. The wife insisted I wait until they flew away before I clean. It was too hot to reapply the ceramic maintenance coat so I’m trying to get that accomplished before our excursion to Baltimore for the 4th of July and I want it to look its best for the Rinkervous. I did get it out for a good shakedown run so it wasn’t all work and no play.
