I blew a subwoofer, and broke a Bimini support pole (twice). The crimps let loose, first the bottom, then the top. Sorta crazy it happened on the same trip, 20 minutes apart. Things to do before next trip!
I was looking things over on the arch and found this wonderful splice on the VHF antenna. I used a Shakespeare VHF splice to correct it, works really well. I can’t believe someone would do this to a new antenna!
Just wow! Makes you wonder sometimes. I haven't used the splice but have used the connector with the wedges like that. Worked great! Nothing special today. Got the tarp off, tops up, batteries in. Used a bit of Spectrum patch paste to put an initial fill into a nasty gouge about an inch long just above the water line that I think was caused when they pulled my boat last fall. No biggie. Was way too cold really for the paste, but just a base coat and I upped the catalyst. Hard to get the tops on when only 38F. Best part of the day was it didn't snow, although we might get 3 inches tonight. Sure was great just being on the boat and listening to some tunes, even if still blocked.
trailer wheels scotched. Safety chains and straps in place. Parked on a steep incline. Ratchet strap used to slowly winch the boat back on the rollers a little at a time until the final unpainted parts are exposed. Yes, its attached to a tree on the other end.
Finished my last coating of barrier coat. I will sand with 80 gritt, go over with acetone then put on the final 3 coats of vc perfomance bottom coat in those little areas.
Weather will be in the upper 60s to 70s so i will wait over night before doing the final paint.
It will be paint a coat. Wait 30 min. Paint coat two. Wait 30 min then paint final coat. Dry time will be approx 24 hrs so Monday after work my bottom paint is officially done minus some cutting/ buffing.
I will then pull boat to steep hill nose down(end of my drive way) and pull the boat back up the trailer.
For now the black of the boat is hanging about 18 inches off the back of the trailer. I have the transom supported with blocks on the sides and middle.
If left unsupported it could crack and damage the hull from the weight of the motor and outdrive.
I have a laser level that just came in today that will be used to make my water line stripe via 3m mairne vinyl tape.
Yours is clean compared to what mine looked like. Mine was packed with what looked like rotten jello. I didn't post a picture of the inside because it was embarrassing. Glad I could remind some people though because it is very easily overlooked. I'm guilty of overlooking/not knowing.

I will then wet sand/polish the hull but i can take all summer to finish that a little section at a time.
Once my laser level arrives im removing the stripes off of each side of my hull and putting a single blue stripe at the water line.

Go Steelers!!!
And then stripes. Removing using heat gun, acetone and blunt paint scraper. Acetone and heat gun are not being used at the same time.
