Ran through 3 or 4 heat cycles on muffs and did compression test.
160 to 170 on all cylinders. Im sure with the age of my motor (88 model) i have some oil burn that is assisting with higher compression numbers but with all these so close across the boats im happy.
If have been happy with 145 to 150 across the board with this factory low compression engine.
Get a little water in the crank case and it takes forever to get out. With all power killed i flushed with 2 cycle mixed fuel, then with atf. Stopped for lunch.
Will change oil and filter then run for good 20 min on muffs then change again. Should be good to go after that.
Finally in! New gimbal bearing and seal. No more chug chug noise. Have to stand the antenna and all round light up, install new tv antenna. Cushions and mattress go in Friday.
How long did you run on the chug chug and what did the bad one look like?
@J3ff I ran it like that 2/3d's of last season. About 60 hours run time and almost all at speed.I didn't see the bearing out, looking at it in place with the drive off it looked fine. Much quieter now. First real run out of the marina will be Monday.
Hey @J3ff if you want to borrow my alignment bar ill bring it with me on our keys trip, you can keep it for the week we are down there. Ship it back to me if you need it longer.
We can socially distance and i can leave it on my bumper. Or man up and meet us for a beer or three.
Mine isn't making any noise in gear... still haven't gotten the part, took it 30 miles today... no new noise, going to do it again tomorrow... hope it makes it just fine
My storage marina has finally opened to let boat owners work on their boats, but only during off hours. Went to boat Sunday (100 mile drive) and buffed and waxed starboard black, and installed two "new" 22P bravo 3 props, so I now have 22P all around, instead of a mismatched set of 22P and 20P. Also began prepping drives for primer in corroded areas.
