I feel you @GMSLITHO. Just got in a week ago myself. What was thought to be a leaking bellows last fall, turned out to be a cracked transom assembly. But all good now, first ride of the year yesterday 😁
Noticed that the port side windshield was flexing a bit when the walk through was opened. All screws were loose. Hit them all with 4000 and snugged them up.
I de-coagulated the lid on my dawn dish soap I keep at the galley sink.
One step at a time I try to gain a little on @aero3113 only to find I'm 13 more steps behind
I also learned that when using McGuire's 3 step wax you can clean your boat with a little bleach and water. With poly glow this is a big no no. It peels the wax. Also areas where hands with sunscreen touch often will also take off polyglow
Noticed a coolant leak (slight mist under wot apparently) by the wastegate base. The only evidence was the red corroded specks you see around that newly painted base and new wastegate.
I have never made more than 13 lbs of boost, max rated is 18 .
When I removed the housing to replace the gasket, similar to a riser gasket, I found the valve wouldn't push in. I couldn't tell if the valve was seating fully or not. I forced it open a bit as to relieve exhaust gas just in case the issue just happend. It allowed us to continue boating for a week while awaiting the new part but sadly I had to idle speed everywhere. Better than over boost which = high egt which = boom
I need this motor to last!!! I've yet to find a tuner locally who will get on the boat with me and "water tune" an LBZ Duramax 6.6 with the turbos ditched and a whipple super charger in it's place.
Now it's time to launch and see if I can get this new wastegate dialed into @14-16 psi wot. Would be sweet if I could get a little more power out of her and more speed but being that my engine never put out black smoke at cruising or the occasional wot run I'd venture to say my corrected waste gate will only assist with getting on plane a little quicker.
I did notice an issue that many will see with these go fast diesels. They are required high rpm for a good 20% or more of run time or carbon builds up. This is likely the cause of my sticking wastegate as well as the ton of carbon I cleaned out of the dump tube and lower housing. I've gotta make time for some runs at the end of every weekend rather than put put around.
Installed a new sink faucet in the 342’s cockpit, this one has the extendable hose and I added a hot water tab so we have both hot and cold water that this sink now.
Stayput Fastener Shock Cords were installed on the stern such that if center canvas was rolled up, there is nothing holding the left corner of the canvas to the right. When traveling on plane, that corner would flap real bad in the breeze. Installed an additional Shock Cord to hold it in place. Appropriate size shock cords were found here.
I update my Garmin chartplotter with their new Navionics subscription. I like Garmin but it was annoying that they didn't use Navionics even though they owned it.
The admiral and I had a nice relaxing weekend just ourselves! Boat has been running awesome and we really enjoyed another marina's pool! Had some leftover Mai Tai (hard to believe) from Rinkervous and just chilled!
