After some July 3 fireworks after the Chicago Fire soccer match last night, took an early morning ride on glass (rare around here). And the Admiral took the helm so I could relax and enjoy the ride. Happy Fourth!
Thinking I needed a survey to renew my insurance I was looking over the boat really well. I noticed the area that the sump is in was wet. I thought that was strange. Looking deeper I noticed that the hose connection on the box was cracked and leaking. It wasn’t easy getting the cracked piece out of the hose but finally got it out. New shower sump is in.
I took her out 😢. Probably the nicest/calmest day all year. With both of my daughter’s schedules now that school is back, she wasn’t going to get used much. Power washed the bottom and winterized the water system/engines. Here’s a link to a video I took this morning.⚓️
I couldn’t find my post on this Maguire's Ceramic Wax. I wanted to do a follow up. The hull still looks great, slightly less shine from when I applied it at the beginning of the season but the water still beads. I’m going to reapply before she gets wrapped and then again in spring time. I put it on without water, just spray on and wipe off.⚓️ Below is the link, it’s definitely gone up in price….
Replaced all my cockpit speakers this week. Purchased Hertz speakers about 6yrs ago and build quality was absolutely terrible and all have deteriorated. Was trying to hold off and make it a winter/spring project but I couldn't take not having music any longer.
Thought I wanted JL M3s but after listening to them all unless I was dropping money on the M6s, the Clarions had similar build quality and were louder due to the bigger tweeter.
Serviced the drives and put the battery tender on the batteries. Shrink wrap is scheduled for tomorrow. I bought some firewood today, excited for some backyard fires. I can see the boat from the fire pit so I can get my fix, LoL! Hopefully it’s a quick winter!!⚓️
My to do list- Replace the wench strap on the trailer Replace the water system pump Replace the broken antenna
Our river/lakefront will soon be flooded so will have a couple of months probably before the ramps open back up. Fl equivalent of haul out..
Wench strap- check Water pump, check but the faucet behind the helm seat will not turn off...
The antena did not go well at all..I tried to pull it through with the old wire...the fitting on the back of the radio..where tge arch and tge boat meet there is a hole for it to come through...it won't make that turn..like I'll have to lose the arch and pull it back so I can feed the wire through? That really sucks..
well, let's see. This past weekend I waxed/buffed the entire boat to a nice shiny finish. Cleaned the entire cockpit, wiped down and emptied everything inside. Yep, it's that time. Maybe a week or two early for us, but as I get older I like to spread the work across two weekends now. Next Saturday morning I'll put the pink stuff in her and then do a little touch up on cleaning right before I cover.
Replaced the air filters -- they are as big as an office trash can! I have two sensors that tell me when to change the filters. One is a pop-up gauge that turns red when the vacuum pressure inside the filter gets too high. The other indicator is the coating of black soot on that forms the transom and swim platform!
Removed the Corsa Captains choice system from my Starboard engine to replace the leaky shaft seals. Disassembled and cleaned all the pieces while I was in there
