Try running on the muffs while on the trailer and check bilge. That will eliminate raw water from the engine

I’m curious as to how much rainwater comes in via the cleat drains so I rigged up an empty gas can to catch the water. Will advise.

I would make the holes like I have and since it's from the factory like that normally you know what to expect. Simple to seal those outlets and they are above the waterline so not a big worry.
