Re: Wood grain dash panel rehab

I’m going to put wax on it as @aero3113 recommended . I don’t believe the company has any recommendations for this application as the product is designed for acrylic polishing but it worked exceptionally well on the dash. The admiral can’t believe the end result, didn’t even get in trouble for staying at the boat longer than I said I would.

New 2 Boat owner

So, I'm about to become a two-boat owner again tomorrow.  Been a long time, but I don't feel too bad about this one.  I'm not moving up, or even out of my current one.  I'm actually buying one for my grown-up (19 & 21) kids to use.  My son loves to fish and both kids love to boat.  So, this will give them a bit of freedom and learn about more about taking care of a boat (hopefully).  They should also be able to do some water sports with it as well.  Only real problem is I hear, after online reviews, the engine is a bit of a gas hog.  The kids will have to figure it out as they are paying for all of that.  It is an older (1984) Grady White with an early 90's 200hp Johnson (saltwater one).

I pick it up tomorrow.  I'm actually going to keep it in a slip for at least the next month and then we'll see how it goes from there.  Gotta teach the kids how to drive with a trailer as well.  With the price of using local ramps, I may just leave it in the slip.

Lake Michigan is hardly ever this flat.  Punched her to 35mph...didn't know I could go that fast.  Lol

Re: Need VHF Antenna replaced

New antenna is in.  Old one unscrewed easily from mount.  Figured snaking the new cable would be a breeze with the wide open hollow arch.  Not so much.  It was hanging up within 12” in.  I was alone, but fortunately I could reach both ends at the same time, and I kept working it back and forth, and putting bends in my splice to help.  Turns out the old cable was bundled with 2 other wires with a wrap of electrical tape.  Don’t know why that would be done with a cable that at some point in the boats life is apt to be replaced.  Fortunately l got it stretched far enough I could reach it through the speaker hole.  Cut the tape and it was easy sailing from there.
