Re: What did you do to your boat today

Finally after three seasons of trying to figure out why the heck the bilge always had 2-4 gallons of water I did two things yesterday and one seems to have solved the problem.

First - and because I finally removed the genny so I can now have enough room in the engine room to get in and explore - I was able to finally get good access to the hot water heater and tighten the drain valve. It seemed tight, but I gave it a good hand crank just to be sure.

The other thing I discovered was the washdown pump was operating on the fresh water side so it was being constantly pressurized - even without the washdown pump switch being activated. So I closed the thru-hull for the washdown pump and switched the by-pass lever from fresh water (holding tank) to raw water (thru-hull). Basically isolating it from the fresh water side.

Wet vacuumed about 3 gallons out of the bilge and wiped everything down. Came back this morning and all was perfectly dry! I am now a very happy camper!

Re: Mercruiser alarm

Thanks for the feedback. The error code just quit appearing. My service guy plugged into the engine and there were no fault codes, so we're back on the water enjoying summer!

Re: A/C Question

Yours is working properly, the factory default setting is for the fan to always run with the compressor cycling as needed. As shown above you can change a setting to have the fan only run when the compressor runs. I’ll tell you though when we bought our first Rinker I felt the same and changed the setting and after 2 weekends changed it back to always on. We liked the constant air flow, white noise, etc
So I played with the parameters this morning and definitely did not like the P-14 setting. Cabin felt too hot before the compressor and fan kicked back on.

What I did do was reset the high and low fan limits (P-2 & P-3). Instead of the default high speed of 95 I set it to 70 so now it's not blowing like a hurricane 24/7. I've got a nice breeze constantly throughout the cabin - with a nice low white noise volume to drown outside annoyances - but still hear the TV, radio, etc.

Would not have been able to figure this out without everyone's input and help. Thanks!

New flooring in progress. Can’t stand the plywood. Never looks or feels clean - especially with kids and pets.

Re: A/C Question

I always remember it by saying “power-down” at the end of boat day
