Do you think the POTUS should demand everyone wear a mask????
No - not demand - but set a good example... yes.

Sorry @69fastback but with deaths hovering around 170,000 in the US right now and a large number of those preventable I'll respectfully agree to disagree. That's double the Vietnam war and more than WW1 that you were only involved in for not quite 2 years. About a quarter of WW2 that the US was involved with for 3 years 8 months. In only 7 months.
And you don't think those events affected jobs and families and the economy?

So again. What is an acceptable number? 300,000? Your family? A relatives family?. Sorry man, I just can't wrap my head around that thinking. Could be half that number if people would just listen to science and not the politicians.
I'll let you know how the test works out. I still blame a bad fish taco......peace bro.

People with compromised immune systems are always at risk of dying from viruses. We still don’t send record numbers to the employment line. Maybe seems like a cruel way of looking at it, but part of life is death, and compromised people are always at risk. And then there’s the minuscule number of “healthy” people that die.

And then there’s 30,000,000 people who are unemployed and will have effects that last for decades with suicides, lost homes, lost retirements, alcohol/drug abuse.....

Best of luck to you. Regardless of your test, I geniuinely hope you get to feeling better.

Thanks. I appreciate it. Not trying to say you're heartless. Just different perspectives. Cheers!

What confuses me is the fast food workers at the drive thru that wear rubber gloves. Well the person in front of me hands them cash, they grab it with those gloves then hand me change that someone else handed them. Meanwhile they wear those same gloves for an hour or so at a time so they scratch their face with those gloves, well where does that leave us? No point in wearing them in the first place. Unless you replace them with new ones after everything you touch then they are pointless.

And good news is COVID will not be an issue after Sept 1st. All the schools around here postponed school until Sept 1st so apparently that extra week will protect everyone

We've got a TON of schools going back right now. See Georgia for how to NOT do it.. I'm patiently waiting to hear from a school that does it correctly and see their numbers.

No, I don't, because POTUS is not a professional epidemiologist.  Maybe POTUS could create a federal agency of professional epidemiologists who spend their lives studying how to control and prevent disease.  Unless such an agency already exists ...

How to politically stop a virus.

Lefts, shut down everything, demand everyone stay at home and/or make mask wearing mandatory everywhere including in your car or on a private island when your the only one there.

Rights, leave everything up to the states and governors who know their territory and population and try to maintain some sort of safety and normalcy.

    Which do you prefer??

@Willhound - please follow up, share your test results,                                     There were only 30 people on the plane that seats 156. Seems airline and airport’s used every precaution.

Socialism works real well if you have a population that doesn't need to think for themselves.

The government always has your best interest in mind.

I'm gonna try to stay out if this one tonight also. I don't see it going anywhere constructive. That nasty little virus has no political affiliation. Only the politicians popping off about it. You have one of the most world renowned virologists on board with Fauci yet he gets ignored.....

Well, I can say that while I'm not 'scared' of the virus, I was taking easy precautions and changing my habits a bit. However, I have been to the sand bar every few weekends... and I can't imagine that there were 0 infected there. It's been 7 days since the last time visiting...no virus yet. Nice to think that you can still go in public and not 100% get it.

Yeah, you're right @J3ff. Things are a little wierd with wearing the masks and the line ups at stores etc. But as things are slowly getting going we've been able to enjoy boating albeit with a late start. I've been on a few patios for a beer or a meal, spaced apart of course. It feels good. Can pretty much shop or go anywhere now. Although a little risky I've even been inside my local bar for a few. Mask on if out of the chair and everyone sitting 6 feet apart. They need the business and I need the sense of normalcy. To everyone here, please be assured that I understand there are all different points of view. To anyone that has suffered hardship I feel for you. A lot of my attitude right now is from being under extreme stress for the last 5 months as we were deemed essential and had no choice but to go to work or give up my job. I feel a little (ok, a lot) resentful that the politicians and executives who are all working remotely put me in a position where I have no choice. If I refuse to go in I don't qualify for any of the Covid benefits or unemployment. I could afford to take some time off but no guarantee the job would be there when I come back. And besides the Covid scare I do like the job and I'm good at it. It's my "semi-retirement " job that pays for my boat gas and beer.
Anyway, life goes on and cheers to better times ahead!

Went to Chautauqua Lake today and went out on a steamboat. They required masks for everyone on board and checked temps before you got on. They tried to separate families into groups and tried to keep distance between groups but it wasn't very feasible. All in all I think everyone did the best they could and I felt ok with it

Here is Boston (in Mass) you can go to a restaurant and get something to eat and drink but you cant go a bar that does not serve food. How stupid is that? What the heII is the difference? Not to talk politics because I HATE that but the government is totally out of control. Too many people out of work and way too many put out of business. Way too many people being punished. "The cure is now worse than the cause".............. Just say'n

People need to eat.  People don't need to drink alcohol.  They rolled back in Chicago and bar only establishments can only serve outdoors

It should be up to the business owner to open for alcohol and it's ALWAYS up to the customer. Don't go there if you don't agree.  Buisness stays open if they choose and you stay where you're safe if you avoid it. No one is forcing anyone into a bar.

By that train of thought, people can eat at home. Why pick and choose what and who gets to open?

Dr. Fauci has served under six presidents starting with Ronald Reagan.

Four of the six Presidents Fauci has worked for were/are Republicans.  He worked on the AIDS epidemic, the West Nile virus, the anthrax scare, SARS, and the swine flu pandemic.

Five presidents took his advice and things got better. One hasn't, and it ain't getting better. I guess I'm loco for listening to science.

Just pointing out - he is far from political.
