Looks like Karen's folks got a boat. This woman is going to blow a gasket. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i30g4JsLoPU
By the way thank you @davidbrooks for bringing the "Karen" thing to my attention.  We've all encountered Karen at some point, but I didn't know there was a name for it!  :D

From @Willhound 's link: "As much as 30 percent or 40 percent of our customers right now are all brand new to boating."

Nothing can go wrong with that. Coasties will be recruiting for help soon.  :#

Hey @Willhound - I know Canadians use "u" when we don't (e.g., labor, labour) - but I noticed in the story they used "per cent" whereas down here we use "percent" -- is that a thing also?

I beleive either is acceptable but the most common is "percent".
    Could have been a typo.
Maybe the writer didn't get enough ZZZ's last night....or Zed's..or whatever it is! 😆

can you imagine in about a year how many boats and rv's will be for sale???
  • TonyG13TonyG13 Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭✭
And Great Lakes Skipper will have a larger parts inventory.
  • halifax212halifax212 Posts: 560 ✭✭✭
@rasbury  I was thinking the same thing. A lot of expenses tied to these toys. Around here the RV dealers are low on inventory, you can't buy a pool or hot tub sold out. Not enough lumber to build decks. Boats selling as soon as they are listed.  I don't get it. The economy is struggling and its luxury goods that are selling.  Maybe I will pick up a deal on something next Spring.

Everyone is spending their vacation money because they can’t go anywhere

Our community is about the closest access to Lake Simcoe to about 4 million people. As a result our beaches and boat launches are always packed. But because of Covid they've essentially closed the beaches and municipal boat launches to non residents. Technically they can't stop access to the lake but they've done it by making all available parking resident only. So our marina is capitalising by allowing paid day use of the ramp and parking. Don't like it but I understand that business is business. When we went out today thrre were about 60 vehicles lined up with trailers trying to get in. We are at the marina for the night and now they're all trying to get out. It's freaking hilarious! So far about 8 dragged skegs. Two fist fights. Several arguments. We're sitting in our slip enjoying the entertainment. Ambulance just showed up. Lady had too much sun and booze and crawled out of the boat. Husband couldn't deal with her. What a sh!t show. There's about 10 boats right now sitting along the side ways waiting to get out.

Wait a minute! Other than hockey, people fight in Canada?!  :)

It's times like this I appreciate living in a lower populated area. Too many people doing the same thing at the same time never ends well.  I am sure the guys dragging their skegs would not do so under normal circumstances. I can just imagine the pressure  they are under to get out of the way for the next guy.

Friendliest people on Earth. Until you p!ss us off. Just ask the Nazi's in WW2. I won't point out that we won the war of 1812 and burnt the White House down because technically we were still British then. 😆

Just watched a 30 foot cruiser coming in too hot and a pontoon boat collide. The pontoon backed into the main slipway trying to get into line . I can't make this sh!t up!

😂 I'm too far away from the ramp thankfully. My a$$ Is planted firmly on my swim platform drinking beer. We were supposed to anchor out tonight but the Mrs. has vertigo. Amazing she can boat at all. We hit a lot of cross chop today and she wasn't feeling well so I compromised and we came back in to the marina for the night. At least I'm still on the boat. Why we've been together for over 30 years. Give and take.

@Will,   people pay good money for that kinda entertainment. Great place to drink beer. You will have to come up with a judging system and large 24 inch sq number cards to hold up. Say they get a 10 if they forget to put the plug in.  if they drag the scag 20 ft or more its a 9 ,  50 ft hold up a 10.
    Boat Name :

    Is being from Texas bad?

Yes, but not as bad as being from South Florida.. it's like going from one pot of boiling water to a hotter pot of boiling water.
