Sure was a great way to start it last night!  Really great defensive game!  Samsonov was great!  I'm looking forward to Saturday, watching it on the boat (in the rain).

Caps goalies are too inconsistent this year

With PIT and BOS coming on strong, the East could have a 4-way tie going into the playoffs.  None of the other divisions are that close.  It's gonna make for some great hockey over the next three weeks.

Pitt coming on strong?  We dropped a game to buffalo then got out to a 6 point lead going in to the 3rd against the lowely devils only to barely escape 7-6.  

The pens the dismantle them with ease 5-1 last night but good teams are supposed to do that against lesser teams.

The Caps lost to Buffalo too.  In case you haven't checked the standings, the Pens are one slim point out of 1st place.

The Bruins are only 4 points behind the Cap's but have played 2 less games. Watch out for the bears... Just say'n

And Boston has the easiest schedule ... only four games against playoff teams.

My money is they play worse when Malkin gets healthy.

Pens sat #1 in the east for a few hours yesterday and Crosby becomes 3rd all time in consecutive 1point per game average 16 seasons.  Trailing only Howe at #2 and Gretzky at #1 with 19 seasons.  Not bad company to be in considering all the neck and head injuries that cost the kid good chunks of a few season and at one time even brought up the retirement discussion.  


Big game today between the pens and B's who both lost embarrassingly to buffalo last week. 

The metro is brutal this season.  I would like to see how Toronto would do against metro, if we have a real stanley Cup this season I think it has to be Colorado or Toronto vs the team who survives the metro.

And Ovi sat out last night with a lower body injury.  I wouldn't make any bets on tournament seeding in the East.

I wouldn't call what the pens are doing "peaking"

With their showing against NJ and Buffalo last week they are lucky they are still fighting for 1st place.  

I haven't looked at the schedules but whoever plays the most non playoff teams will probably win 1st place

It won't be a real stanley Cup of Toronto can't play the USA teams.

Today's playoff point spread, 1st to 4th, if all teams in the division win games-in-hand:

West, 24 points
Central, 18 points
North, 12 points
East, 3 points

Another very uninspired showing by the pens.  I don't know how Sullivan is keeping himself from a total mental breakdown.

The Pens will step it up coming to DC for two games.  They always do. 

BTW there's no way the Islanders will beat the Caps in a playoff series.

Maybe NYI was sandbagging last night to secure the 4th seed.  If so, it was artfully done, because they looked bad and they made the Caps look like world-beaters.

I didn't say they were a great team, they play a hard game of hockey with lesser quality players.  When you beat the Isles its because you are supposed to, if you don't it's demoralizing. Maybe not as bad as losing to buffalo.
