I'm not holding my breath for this stimulus check....keeping in mind the amount will be on a sliding scale- a couple that makes 75 grand a year combined will get more than a couple that makes 140...so if you 120 or something, probably not going to be much there.

The cutoff for filing jointly is 150k then it drops on a scale up to I believe 198k where it would be $0.

And remember those are adjusted gross income levels not MAGI or Gross. So you could be up to 174k combined and take the standard deduction and still get a full $2400 as a couple.

    American population: 330,483,530

    Stimulus bill: $2,000,000,000,000

Dividing the cost by every person in America is $6,051.74.

The government could have given every person over $6,000, but instead will give $1,200 to each adult under a certain income.

    Because bailouts.

Wanna know where the missing 96% of your tax dollars went?

$300,000,000 for Migrant and Refugee Assistance pg 147

$10,000 per person for student loan bailout

$100,000,000 to Nasa, because, who knows why.

$20,000,000,000 to the USPS, because why the **** not

$300,000,000 to the Endowment for the Arts / because f it

$300,000,000 for the Endowment for the Humanities/ because no one even knew that was a thing

$15,000,000 for Veterans Employment Training / for when the GI Bill isn't enough

    $435,000,000 for mental health support

$30,000,000,000 for the Department of Education stabilization fund/ because that will keep people employed

$200,000,000 to Safe Schools Emergency Response to Violence Program

$300,000,000 to Public Broadcasting / NPR has to be bought by the dems

$500,000,000 to Museums and Libraries / Who the **** knows how we are going to use it

$720,000,000 to Social Security Admin / but get this only 200,000,000 is to help people. The rest is for admin costs

$25,000,000 for Cleaning supplies for the Capitol Building / I **** you not it's on page 136

$7,500,000 to the Smithsonian for additional salaries

$35,000,000 to the JFK Center for performing Arts

$25,000,000 for additional salary for House of Representatives

$3,000,000,000 upgrade to the IT department at the VA

$315,000,000 for State Department Diplomatic Programs

$95,000,000 for the Agency of International Development

    $300,000,000 for International Disaster Assistance

$90,000,000 for the Peace Corp pg 148

$13,000,000 to Howard University pg 121

9,000,000 Misc Senate Expenses pg 134

$100,000,000 to Essential Air carriers pg 162 This of note because the Airlines are going to need billions in loans to keep them afloat. $100,000,000 is chump change

$40,000,000,000 goes to the Take Responsibility to Workers and Families Act. This sounds like it's direct payments for workers. Pg 164

$526,000,000 Grants to Amtrak to remain available if needed through 2021 pg 168 (what are the odds that doesn't go unused)

Hidden on page 174 the Secretary has 7 days to allocate the funds & notify Congress

$25,000,000,000 for Transit Infrastructure pg 169

    $3,000,000 Maritime Administration pg 172

    Are you angry yet?

Remember this in November and get rid of everybody responsible for this failure! When I say “Everybody” I mean the entire government!

Wait, the U.S. government wasting tax dollalrs????  No way!!!  News at 11!!!

This kind of crap chaps my a$$.

I'm sick of career politicians.  Time to put term limits on both sides of the house.

    A.  Both sides of the house work for the tax payers

    B.  The president works for the tax payers

    C. The Supreme court works to uphold the constitution

This is all really simple stuff, why can none of them follow?

It's really shameless. I dont know what party added all that pork but it could have been spent much more wisely.

I can vouch for the VA needing to upgrade the IT dept. You would not believe some of the antiquated servers they are still running because of budgets. My job is to secure these from hackers so I know the risks these pose

So in PA they passed an unemployment bill. Not sure if this part is nationwide but I guess if you were laid off due to this then you can get an extra $600/week. I know a guy that makes $15/hour so figure about $400 or so per week take home. So he will get about $300-350/week unemployment (pre-tax, not sure if unemployment is taxed), plus the $600/week means he will basically get twice his income? According to his wife he will and they are thrilled and laughing about how much money they will have. They are planning a Disney vacation for later this year with the extra money.

All state run public boat ramps and beaches in south Carolina are now closed.

My only hope is that either the army corps of engineers doesn't comply with the state's regulations (the army corps runs Hartwell not the state)  most if the ramps on Hartwell are on corps propety, not the state/county etc

    Or

Georgia still has open ramps, Hartwell crosses 2 states.

    Or

I can find a private ramp to use. There is one in my parent's neighborhood but i highly doubt it's long enough for anyting more than about 20 ft.

I may be like jeff and jetski for a while.

So while digesting this and will read more...you have one side trying to get re elected so trying to get money to his already rich supporters (after the huge tax break already) and another group that pays little attention to anything but will need money to survive this, and then the other side trying to get their share for the middle and lower class for programs to benefit them for the long term and also trying to get elected....so sounds like a normal day.

    Handy,
From what I understand the way they voted on this makes it impossible to know who voted for or against this bill.  The rep from Kentucky wanted a mandated vote on the floor of the house but was over ruled based on social distancing practices,

Correct. Thats why the one loan Rep from Kentucky wanted a recorded vote so people would know but he got shut down by both parties.

I reopened this to give some info at my work. As many of you know I work for public transportation (MBTA) in Boston. Everyone in the news media is giving thanks for first responders and medical personal. Now not to take anything away from them because they truly deserve all the credit they are getting and God bless them for what they do. However the public transportation workers are taking a beating. I mean a real beating. Many many of them have contacted the virus. We are only supposed to be open to transport first responder workers but that is not happening. Please keep public transportation in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you everyone and please stay safe!!!!!!

@raybo3, thank you for the work that you do. I feel for you. I work for a major telecommunications provider and we don't get any love either. If it wasn't for us and the utilities, there would be no lights, heat, water, television, phones and internet. Keep doing what you are doing and stay safe out there.

@raybo3 - We've been trying to give some shouts out to the CTA drivers here in Chicago. I can't imagine the stuff staff go through on a bus or train on a regular basis even without a pandemic.

@Cableguy Greg - You should have heard the screams coming from my 20 year old - back from college - when our internet connection went down for about 5 minutes yesterday.

Kudos to you both for keeping our infrastructure going!

Ditto...I'm esential selling vehicles! I can almost understand service but sales? We obviously ate not selling anything and they are going to cut back on hourly..so much for the paycheck protection act...assume businesses will figure out a way to get it and then pocket it.
