@YYZRC I am cautiously optimistic that you are right. I read the leaked document and there was no actual date shown. After the teaser announcement yesterday the Chief Medical Officer of Health got up and cautioned that he thought it was too early, and there was a bit of back pedaling from the Premier's office when pressed for a date. Guess we'll see during the announcement today. A good sign that they are splashing your boat though. I've made another appointment to go in and work on mine on Sunday, even though they are calling for a possible thunder storm. I'm at a bit of a halt anyway because I had my mechanic pull my drive for pressure test and service last fall and last I saw it wasn't re-installed yet. I also noticed two of my trim lines had some signs of seeping so have asked he look at them and perhaps replace. But the big hold up for us is that the new marina owner undertook a badly needed re-vamp last fall that included a full dredge of the marina basin and channel that should have been completed over the winter but the Covid stop work order got in the way. Apparently the permit for the work then lapsed so they have applied for an extension and work is starting again this week. So even if some kind of public opening is announced for this weekend, we won't be in. A small consolation is that the owner has promised a full refund for whatever time we lose, whether caused by the work, or by the government shut down, so looks like we'll get a refund for May anyway. Gonna sound like blasphemy but between work and all this Covid crap I'm having a tough time getting excited about boating season anyway. It'll happen when it happens.
Bay Port Yachting Centre Marina Update: May 14, 2020
To our valued customers,
The provincial government has announced the re-opening of marinas, and our gates will officially be open starting on Saturday, May 16, at 10 AM. Your gate card will be re-activated, and you are welcome to access the property seven days a week. To be clear, gates will remain locked until 10 AM Saturday.
@YYZRC , I’m scheduled for tomorrow also, good luck! ⚓️
How did it go, Aero?!
I just got an email receipt for fuel so my boat is floating and (hopefully) moving under it's own power - the gas dock is a long way from the travelift!
Overcast and 87°. We get some breaks of sunshine so it’s not too bad. Supposed to be some severe thunderstorm activity tonight and over the weekend. It hasn’t kept the kids from skiing and tubing.
Finally warm enough in northern NY to make me want to get up to boat and do my Spring tasks (touchup outdrives, touchup bottom paint, install new propset, and the big one, buff and wax black hull. Probably 3 days work since boat is 100 miles from me. Called marina to have them move boat out of storage building to suitable spot with water and electric access. And then the news. "No one allowed to work on their boats due to virus right now". AARGH!!! Since I knew the marinas had all opened up this way, it just didn't occur to me they would limit access. She suggested checking back after Memorial weekend, owner's decision may change by then. Looks like I'll be working on outside stuff at home for a week (at least).
@Spyderweb - Can you access off hours? Our yard is letting folks work on their boats by appointment after their regular employees have left for the day - and also all day on weekends. It's working out fairly well, since they won't allow anyone to work on adjacent boats at the same time. So since it's inside, I don't have to worry about dust or fumes - or not my taste in music - from the neighbors while working on mine.

Thats a crock of sh!t, marinas are allowed to be open as long as social distancing is in place. Where I am stored it was limited to working but no launch of private vessels but as of a purple of weeks ago there’s nothing stopping them. I’m going In this week and the county Is not one of those “ready” to open.
Yeah guys, this was the owners call. No working by us anytime. I think it's whatever he feels comfortable with regarding social distancing. The office woman I talked to (the owners sister) indicated lots of customers are wanting in, but for now the answer is "no". She seemed to feel at some point that would change, so try again in a week. I'm hoping it's no more than that.
Well it’s supposed to rain from now until basically August, so we squeezed in another day yesterday. I usually do not go out on holidays, or weekends, and especially not holiday weekends, but the weather will be keeping us inside for a while.
Watched the launch from Tavernier Key today.. bit of a trip for the boat but it did fine. Bearing still making noise in neutral, but at this point it's not getting any worse? (I know that's bad logic)
When the Province of Ontario banned camping on Crown Land several weeks ago (public lands for those south of the border) it included boats with sleeping accommodations and virtually all land under publicly accessible waterways are classified as Crown Land so anchoring out, even alone, was not allowed. This announcement yesterday: https://news.ontario.ca/.../backcountry-camping-available... announces that camping on crown land will once again be allowed as of Monday June 1st and presumably includes boats/anchoring out but does not specifically mention it. Clarification please Premier Doug FordOntario Ministry of HealthBoating Ontario
Is it still Covid boating? or are we done with that?
I'm still out keeping distance. The keys opened this week and yesterday and today were insane both on land and in the water. Man it was nice down here with no traffic and no people!!
Either way, was up on the bow with a friend chatting and a pod of these guys came by to say hi.
Snapped the pic, ran back and starting splashing the water with my hand, the 2 babies came up and checked us out, closest I've ever seen! Was only a foot or so away.. the adults stayed a little further back but was easily the coolest thing so far!!
