@YYZRC , are your drives trimmed up or down when this happens?

Trimmed up just a bit to optimize running angle.

Instead of powering down, try trimming the drives down and see if that works. I used to have that happen to me once in a while on my 242 if it was rough or if I was in a turn when rough. I would just trim down and the prop would catch.

Instead of cavitation, it's probably ventilation (air being sucked down from the surface).  But I don't know why ventilation wouldn't resolve when the prop goes back down.  Are there any unusual thru-hulls in front of your props?  Maybe a big fish-finder in a bad location that is sending a stream of air bubbles back to the prop?

No additions to the hull. As it left the factory. My 330 did the same thing.

Georgian Bay water is really soft .. LOL  Sorry weird issue YYZRC.  But if both boats did it is it something you are doing like drives up to much or something. Trim tabs up or down to much..

I’m probably trimmed up too much for the conditions. I like to go fast :)

I only use the tabs to balance, so usually only one tab is ever down.

Me too I like to go fast  ..  I think your trimmed to high.  I count to one with the trim seems to put my boats in the good spot.  I tab full down and then tweak it once on plane.

You should put some seatbelts on those transom seats. That’d be fun with friends...lol

Some long overdue work on the genny; replaced the anode, fuel filter, impeller, and changed oil.  Thought I had new plugs but wrong ones, maybe next weekend.

I actually got out on her! Cruised down the river a few miles and then up into an inlet and anchored for the day. Blew about 8-10 from the south most of the time so we swung and rocked a bit but great to get out on a sunny day.

Got some serious shine on the gel coat.
Been using Meguiars Flagship on the boat for a few years.
Tried Surhold Pro Polish this year.

Well the 400 is out of the water had a leak then I scoped the area to find out the trim tabs screws where leaking.  So pulled the boat out of the water and removed the tabs and struts for the platform.  Will 5200 quick seal it tomorrow.  Has anyone else have this issue.

5200 is meant for below the waterline. I actually just read the label last Sunday and I thought it needed maybe 24 hours before going below water 🤔

Yeah, it will be 48 hrs plus to dry.. the fast cure is hard to touch in 1.5 hrs cures fully in 24 hrs.  The interesting thing is the fast cure is 1000 psi pressure verses the regular 5200 blue label at 700 psi and 4200 at 500 psi.. The Admiral is pi$$ed with me as its out for the weekend.. I told her we can stay on it .... just its out of the water and we will have no AC   the comment did not help the matter !

@SimcoeRinker400 how much water was leaking in that you needed to haul?!

Last year I talked to a guy who had a 330 that was so water-logged that when he removed the oil change tube from the transom, water was dripping into the boat from the screw hole.  He sold the boat as-is, said he couldn't find the source.  I wonder if the tabs were the culprit?

It had to be the tabs as its the only thing in that area leaking on your friends boat... I have water meter and luckily I am only 18 percent wet as it leaked into the boat more than fill the core up.  Also I have my 30 dollar wifi scope and man it's been great for finding things out in tight areas.  It's was higher around the trim tabs.  Also I have only the port side leaked into the boat but I was not taking a Chance so I am resealing everything glad I did as the one pole for the platform has multiple drill holes.. also they used as little as possible 5200 to put on the trim tabs my install will not be sparingly   should of done this in the spring when I resealed the trim tab actuators as one of them where leaking last year.  Rule of thumb if the sealant is over 10 years old you should reseal everything as it does dry out... also for peace of mind.. once it's back in the water I plan to reseal the front rails also as I have little leak in the back bed room above the port window..

I think I will spring for indoor storage this winter and do the same.  I really liked what @Grahamu did over the winter to make sure everything is perfect but that was a lot!

I noticed yesterday that my bellows are still leaking a small amount after replacement. F.

@SimcoeRinker400 , your 400 is a 2008? I’m surprised it has a bolt on platform with stanchions. I thought it would be a molded platform.

I had the same problem. Starboard side screw and line through transom was leaking into bilge. Patched it from the inside until I can get the boat pulled.

Simcoe I hope you drilled all of those holes out larger, epoxied them, then re drilled and sealed. 5200 is fine but I use 4200 on the transom as it is rated for below waterline and can come back apart without a blowtorch. Best way to do it and screws will have a way better bite than in wood.

    Hi Liberty

I was thinking the same thing.  It is just airing out right now but I was planning to put some epoxy in there today let it dry and finish the job tomorrow.  With 5200 which is even stronger than 4200 and both are rated for under the waterline. Areo3113 the 400 was the last old design with the platform bolted on.  Tony A leaving it could hurt the transom core that's why I was like get the boat out fix it and forget about it... hopefully.  YYZRC it could be your transom plates leaking not your bellows ( If you have mercs I just fixed that $$$ because that was two of my leaks).  My old 342 only ever had rainwater in the bilge trying to get that with this 400  B).
