In rougher seas instead of just holding onto the wheel, I can now widen my stance and have one hand on the wheel and one on the bar to keep more stable.
Super easy: Just pulled the MFD, found a good flat spot, drilled and feathered the holes, put in oversized washers for backing, and lots of 3M clear marine silicone caulk...
Thanks all - I've been wanting to do this for a couple of seasons, just finally got the cahonies to drill into the helm without screwing it up, and it took all of about 15 minutes. Should have done it sooner.
I made up some templates out of transparent vinyl so that I could center the plates perfectly over the hardtop access holes. You know, in case @aero3113 stops in for an inspection.

today, I ripped out the old marinAIR unit and installed a new HVAC system by Webasto in my 310 . What a difference , super quiet ! Also replaced the old ducting.

Doesn't matter what you get stuck on your hands....bondo, paint, primer, caulking - it all comes off once you eat KFC.
Unfortunately you are ingesting it. lol.
